The US economy is putting along at 2% growth. Unfortunately we have a 20 trillion debt to deal with.

If our Gov can cut taxes, reduce Gov spending and remove regulations that prevent banks from lending, we might get to 4% growth.

The President isn't responsible for creating jobs. The President can only help or hinder job creators.

Growing the size of Gov and passing thousands of new regulations isn't helping. Every Gov employee's salary is paid by taxes. Every regulation cost a company money.

We've had 16 years of big Gov, big spending, deficits and war. I miss Bill Clinton.

These people are there for a reason, it's not because they're good people. :-P
That's why the US has more inmates that any other country on Earth, even repressive regimes like China. Strange isn't it ? Especially for a country that claims to be a beacon of freedom for the rest of the world (BS).
Of course it's easy to assume that people are in jail for good reason, and they deserve their fate, including being treated like cattle. Maybe it's society that has a problem.

Hey. I'm 100% with you on prison reform. It just doesn't work, especially when prisons are privatized and there are deals being made every which way to fill those cells.

But to compare Gitmo to the US prison population is just asinine.

Prisoners of war are not entitled to trials. These are not robbers or car thieves, they are Islamists.

I'm not clear why Pres. Bush called them enemy combatants other then they were not part of a standing army but were captured fighting on the battlefield.

** Prisoners at Guantanamo are better off then prisoners in Federal prisons.

I suggest that you brush up the Geneva Convention.
The thing is, US military personnel captured on foreign soil are POW too. Wouldn't you want them to be treated well, in conformance with international law ? It's dangerous to set low standards, because your example will be used against you.
Islamist is just a label, you have to prove a crime was committed.
These days, you could be branded an Islamist just for browsing radical websites.

If you say so. Speaks volume about the state of the correctional system in the US then. I think that's what shocks me, how the US treats its own citizens...

I am pro-freedom, pro-democracy, pro-human rights, pro-privacy. So I might be more American than average (in the primeval sense of the term). You can't blame me for upholding values that should be yours.
Why did the US turn its back on freedom ?
The US used to be a role model for the world, today it is the example not to follow. But Americans seem to be happy with that state of affairs. Poor world.

I agree in part. The people we are fighting are not co-signers to the convention. Even if they were, they would not treat our people well.

Islamist is just a label, you have to prove a crime was committed.

So is murder, terrorist, etc. The people at G. were not arrested browsing websites. As far as I know, they were captured on the battlefield.

Me too. Though I don't have a reference for comparison. I'm not familiar with penal system in France, DE, NL, etc.

Pres. Obama is granting clemency to many people. It's a tricky situation b/c if someone is murdered..

I don't blame you. Even if we disagree, it should not prevent us from having a dialog and being friends.

Sometimes it easier to believe in freedom then to practice it.

China's state-run media tells the PE to stop acting like a "diplomatic rookie."
Well ... that's the problem. He IS a diplomatic rookie!

If he doesn't learn to zip it and act in a manner appropriate to the office to which he's been elected, China or some other country is going to school him big-time. Which would be amusing, except that he'll take the whole country down with him.

The "diplomatic rookie" must be trembling on his knees, all stressed out, worrying about what China is gonna think about him.

Meanwhile the "Trump Effect" just doesn't stop:

Trump Announces Japanese Telecom Co. Will Invest $50 Billion to Create 50,000 Jobs in U.S.

In the wake of reports that SoftBank Group Corp. founder and Chief Executive Officer Masayoshi Son was set to meet with Donald Trump in New York, the President-elect announced that the Japanese telecommunications company will invest up to $50 billion in the U.S. which includes plans to create 50,000 new jobs here.
Several sources reported that Son, 59, was set to meet with Trump on Tuesday. SoftBank is a major investor in Sprint Corp., one of the largest cell providers in the U.S.

After the meeting, Trump reported that SoftBank has pledged to invest heavily in the U.S.A.

Already MAGA and it's not even January 20th. I can't even fathom the level of greatness that America will be in his first 100 days alone.

Seeing as how the big orange snowflake can't even stand a comedy show making fun of him, he may be.

He should be thinking of he potential consequences of what they might do, but too wrapped up in his own ego for that.

I believe the popular vote margin he lost by is now up to around 2.7 million...

What a start for a "diplomatic rookie." As a "deplorable", I'm impressed!

China has bullied a lot of countries into not recognizing Taiwan and Tibet as independent countries for a long time. Dalai Lama is an example of pure bullying where China exerts strong diplomatic pressure so that he never gets received by government officials during his travels. Last year he visited Portugal and our POS leaders went down on their knees and obeyed China's order to NOT receive him. He has visited South Africa 3-4 times and the same thing happened as in my country.

This happens with virtually every country in the world in relation to Dalai Lama. This is disgusting. So when Trump receives a call from a democratically elected leader (Taiwan) and is not afraid that China, (who's leaders were never voted in democratically), is gonna protest, then it makes me really happy, because the Chinese love tough people and pretty soon they will shut their traps up when they realize that trying to be tough with Trump will be counter productive.

Trump will put them in their place... and that's a good thing for the US and for the world

One month after the elections and they are still counting votes? I thought that only happened in Zimbabwe

His Holiness the Dalai Lama didn't take it personally and certainly didn't go into a tweet storm about it. The PE would do well to emulate his composure and respect for other living beings.

Why should China be worried about the good kind (elite-morally) minded USA?

Why are there no lefties protesting China's annexing of Tibet? Why were they not protesting when Dalai Lama got refused a visa to enter South Africa on 3 occasions? What evil would he have done if he entered S. Africa? Isn't he a peaceful man?

Why didn't the lefties protest in the streets and go on a burning rampage when Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize for "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". a few months before becoming President? What did he do to deserve this prize?

Just imagine all the protests, if Trump were to be awarded a Nobel for Peace... and rightfully so.

Liberal HYPOCRISY... that's what it's called.
obama-drone.jpg

So it's about time Liberals and Progressive and even some Republican haters to accept the fact that Trump won the elections by the rules previously accepted by both parties.

The only haters I see are lefties that can't accept that there are a lot of people that think differently to them.

It's really easy to see were most of the intolerance is coming from.

It's not as if the USA (and South Africa, etc.) were built on the DNA of murderers and slave owners.

Don't really care about the Nobel Peace Prize. But, I can say, drone strikes should increase by another 600% or beyond to strategically take ISIL out - cut the heads off the snakes everywhere across the middle east.

Of course, not forgetting that Chinese people were not even welcome in the United States of Racists until 1943.

"The Chinese Exclusion Act was the first law implemented to prevent a specific ethnic group from immigrating to the United States."
