this is an astute point. Self-identifying as male player character with a focus on philosophy, science and mathematics - I am interested in the world around me and the how's and why's of things.

Psychology shows I am an outlier and most people don't move beyond the what of things, like you.

When I learned this I became more tolerant. Biodiversity, variation and nature is what it is.

Problem is, when bigots with maladaptive ideas seek to curtail the freedoms of others and when moral totalitarians like you, "All that matters is that they do feel that way" - do not have a regard for biodiversity, truth, reason and logic.

Gender isn't a black and white physically identifiable characteristic of a person. It's no more or less than who they feel that they are. Who are you (or anyone) to tell them they can't feel that way?

A lizard is an entirely different species, which is indeed a significant biological difference from human, so yes I would agree that someone who thinks they are a lizard is quite confused.
