I agree wholeheartedly, but I've seen how the system works for some and doesn't work for others. We just had two deaths this week - members of our small community that went out to seek a job and get an education (did not die from Covid). They came from families that were educated and supportive, but the system failed them. In my case it was different, I left long ago, got an education and decent job offers. I traveled the world. I've seen how society views others different from themselves, and until the system changes how does one expect people to be motivated to become a part of it? Motivation is the key to gainful employment IMO. My two cents...

The idea of a system is vague, not every community will be the same or have the same options, economic opportunities and level of trust among individuals. Sounds like the two individuals you mentioned were lucky to come from good and supportive families and that sometimes is as good as it gets. The system doesn't have any responsibility towards anyone, people have responsibility towards each other.

Not exactly on topic but relevant in some ways. System vs personal responsibility.

Harris's tirades are the most annoying thing one had to experience, it is like she was trying to make up for her pitiful debate showing.

Isn't it strange that one can't drink till 21, can't get a tattoo till 18 but when it comes to killing and removing a fetus even parental informed consent for minors is viewed as a governmental intrusion and is being challenged.

Democrats think their preaching makes them look good. It's fodder for media but most people ignore them. They are talking to themselves albeit, a little less inflammatory than Kavanaugh confirmation.

Some here said Kavanaugh was payback for not seating Judge Garland. But democrats have been doing that since Judge Bork. Clarence Thomas made it through on his ability to call out democrat tactics.
