Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Not the news the doubters want to hear.

But of course the replies from the usual suspects (trolls) will be that one swallow does not a summer make.

In all honesty, I feel that the .TEL extension is now a bust.

Take it for what it's worth, but that is my honest opinion. The only reason that I feel it necessary to repeat this is due to the fact that many new faces find this thread every day. So for those that are new to this discussion, it is hereby my personal belief that .TEL will fail and that those that continue to support it will become .TEL failures and lose their investment.

I do not HOPE that this will happen, but I sincerely believe that it will. For those that have invested in the extension, it is probably best to sell NOW even if you must take a loss. Again that is my opinion.

Cheers, and good luck to all domainers on Earth and "may the force be with you". IMO.

Disguised with a hint of fatigue in your voice, to give the impression of an analysis, some new thought, maybe this 'Microguy' has even made a volte-face and we should listen? *parp* Nope, it's the same opinion you've been bashing over our heads for the past 9 months.

The guy at Fox is ready to type it into the news ticker.. go!

.tel in Vancouver

Was in Blenz Coffee on Granville St. in downtown Vancouver today. It was pretty cool to see a little "poster type" advertisement on the counter where you wait for/get your drink showing off their .tel name! I took a pic with my iPhone but haven't downloaded to my pc yet.

You got lucky. Plain and simple.

If this is for his business, a much better and cheaper option would have been to buy a real TLD and pair it with an easy to use template system.

Look at Intuit's.... Intuitยฎ | Website Building Software & Website Design

That sort of thing squashes the ".tel is great for non techies!" argument because they are also great for non techies and the end result, while not as good as a custom design, still manages to make .tel look like a big joke.

.tel is good for ONE thing and ONE thing ONLY.... to run a page where the only point is to keep people updated of your contact info. Realistically, how many people want that? I sure don't, and I doubt many of the .tel pumpers use it for that either.

When Piggy posted that guy's blog here where he was writing about .tel, I was certain that he was a paid shill. This just confirms it.

Hi,everybody.I will change my mind to .tel.
Before I just try to speculate it. I spend a lot of time to view many threads and comments. And try to develop my sample .tel website.
Now I decide to invest it. Thinking about inflation coming soon.Money is just paper and .tel will be gold mine. I must catch the chance.

I find that your avatar goes well with the failed .tel concept.

of course I got lucky, but you probably undervalue the .tel oncept.
What is easy to you (creating a web page from a template) might be terribly difficult to a not experienced internet person (and there are many out there. Getting a .tel will gain em a presence on the net at a cheap price and without the hassle... think out of the box for once ;)
By the way already had another offer (around a month ago) for a (super generic one word) tel (at 300 euros) that i counter offered without further reply (unfortunately).
So actually people is "biting" on tel on my side...

If you're telling us super generic keywords can't sell for more than mid โ‚ฌโ‚ฌโ‚ฌ it's not an encouraging sign. So far we have seen just a few mid $$$$ sales, seems like this is the top of the benchmark. When did we get to see a .tel reported on DNjournal for the last time ?
I think the market has spoken already, and the market is always right...

I don't even think .tel is a good option for people who are satisfied with a minimal Internet presence. Nowadays webhosts provide you with site builder tools and read to install CMS, that are much more customizable than .tel pages.

500 sites x $4.99/month per site. Hmm...

Great plan! (if you your Mom & Dad let you stay in a tent in their backyard)

Instead of spinning your wheels here, how about convincing Intuit that an inexpensive flat rate deal on their template system for unlimited domains (and hosting) might catch the interest of a mere few thousand portfolio bleeding domainers?
