fans of .tel always say that its an easy way for non tech type of people to make an online presence in an easy way. i was reading mashable today and they mentioned 2 new services called Magntize.com and Card.ly
these basically do the same thing as .tel but its completely free and i'm sure we will see more and more similar services coming out in the future.
Magntize Helps You Build a Simple Social Media Business Card
Card.ly: Build a Beautiful Social Media Business Card
i bought about 10 .tels the day it came out just incase but will probably dump all of them. there is no way .tel will ever replace the phone number or the phone book. as long as domainers own .tel it can never happen. why would someone go to pizza.tel to call and order a pizza when it might just be some random domainer that owns it and could have fake info on it rather than pizza hut owning it? there is no way to know the info on a .tel is valid. I would rather just open the pizza hut app on my phone or search for pizza on google maps from my phone. .tel could have been a cool idea back in the 1990s when it was really hard to have any kind of online presence at all. its super rare to see any .tel sales. i feel sorry for people who bought hundreds of them maxing out their credit cards.
