Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

I am not a fan of .TEL at all, but I do agree with others that this was a great reg, and if the extension ever takes off this type of name will lead the way over many of the turds I have seen in this thread.

Brad

Quick Brad, both Turd.tel & Turds.tel are still available. :cy:

There are still an AMAZING number of .tel domains still available !

I have been shocked at the number of Service Industry names that are still available for individuals whose entire line of work can benefit from the .tel / keywords / branding.

top realtor
best realtor
best plumber
pro plumbers
debt counselors
tax pros

MILLIONS of Professionals, easy branding combos, yet there they still are !

(and after 9 months of availability)

:talk:

Most of the above names have prefix of top, best or pro, reducing the value of the names to a great extent, not worth registering in an infant TLD. :imho:

Agreed.
Also, the word "realtor" is a trademarked term.

Stay away from realtor or realtors if you don't want to receive a email and letter from the realtor lawyers, like someone said and this is true it's a trademark and many domainers don't know that but too late when they receive a notification within 3 month telling you to let domain expired.

I've been in real estate befor and know it, that's why all my domains don't have realtor in it.

For domains with pro in it, better reg dot pro than .tel

Was contacted by an affiliate program for one of my .tels...

...we just launched an Affiliate Program that would be a good fit with your site and a money making opportunity for both of us.

Here's how it would work:

1. We give you phone numbers for USA/UK/Canada/Australia etc and / or link that you put on your website
2. When someone calls, you earn $0.50 for each minute the person you sent stays on the phone.

- Average call duration is 10 to 15 minutes so you can make around $5 to $7.50 per call. Many clients call back and become regulars. This is where you make the most money,

- We pay once a month the previous month sales.

So, Let Me Get This Straight:

I see and ad on tv, on a van, on a billboard and it says:

Call Me, Mr. John D. McDoweally at 1-324-675-5464 for a Free Tax Assessment

OR It says:

Get a Free Tax Assessment Today - Visit TAXPROS.tel

... and it has no value to anyone ? Boy, no wonder people don't get responses !!!

They're all marketing morons !

I'm a dot tel fan but to be honest I rarely sees on TV these kind of number but rather a easy to remember 800 number could be like Call 1-800-tax-pros :talk: This call goes directly to call center with operator on the end of line.

Yep, that takes care of 1 tax professional who got 1 marketable way in 1 town.

TaxPros.com takes care of two.

Etc.

That still leaves millions of other marketing morons out there apparently ! :'(

Then 100% of the people who work in marketing must be morons, because literally 0% of them are using your second example.

You have failed to brand McDoweally, created serious identity issues, actually made it harder to find him and isolated everyone who for whatever reason can't go to the URL.

Using McDoweally.tel fixes some of this, but now we are in a McDoweally.tel vs. McDoweally.com argument.

Nobody gives a crap who he is, it's what he does, or can do, for the customer that people remember.

Ronnie Deutsch couldn't get anyone to spell her name right, but because she can help with the IRS and then spends millions to advertise, branding eventually happens - and she still is missing alot of business because of her name.

Google, Yahoo, Amazon didn't have that problem as simple names.

Google.com, Yahoo.com, Amazon.com became EASY to market after that.

Unfortunately, even that takes alot of time and money to get people to realize what they do because they don't explain anything as a name :-/

Simply put, the Entity Title as a service followed by the Entity Service in the Contact Method is the SMARTEST branding there can be.

1-800-FLOWERS or 1-800-TAXPROS or FLOWERS.com or FLOWERS.tel are HIGH$ for a reason because they are the type of BOOMING success instantly since they don't have to put MILLIONS into branding just so you can put different things together in your mind when you're choosing, and remembering, things.

Barnes and Noble snatched up (but paid big) for Books.com in the early days .... DUH :|

... or maybe Hotels.com ? ... Weather.com ? ... MapQuest ? YouTube ? MySpace ? PhotoBucket ?

Ask.com ? LinkedIn ? LiveJournal ? AdultFriendFinder ? Friendster ? PartyPoker ? BestBuy ?

GameSpot ? Answers.com ? NetFlix ? PayPal ? .......... All Descriptive Words Used For Successful, Easy Branding.

Literally, you're wrong, except for the part where many are morons ! Hmmm, above top 100 sites/companies = 0% ???

I'll take those morons over others' "successful marketing"

There was no rant, but there was a response to your statement that 0% of marketing people use descriptive keywords to promote their businesses.

This was the whole point I made to begin with.

TaxPros ... etc.

What did YOU miss ?

---------- Post added at 06:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:48 AM ----------

there's a bunch here with no keyword .tels

Ah, individuals posting who have nothing in their portfolio but a verbal bat ... got it !
