Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

The issue is that you must have one piece of public contact info on the MAIN page, not just on subdomains. If there isn't any logical piece of contact info, you can add a weblink to the .tel domain, and drag it to the bottom of the list.

Thanks Tel Me, but what if I dont want a URL or link on my main page, this shouldn't be a requirement? Thanks for teh advice though

I had no problems accessing and activating my Dynadot domains, so maybe you're encountering a glitch.
Try putting in your contact data first (a website URL or email address) and then activating the domain. If that doesn't work, get in touch with Dynadot. They are slow to answer, though, so try posting your problem on their forum. They are pretty fast there.
Hope this helps!

Thanks MS Domainer
I will try posting on their forum, I have emailed them but haven't heard back yet.

Asking and getting are two different things.

:o

I suspect the seller will be dropping that price a bit, perhaps to 1M.

Thank you for sharing.
Also, congrats on a great bid :)

Thanks, Not sure what to do yet.

I just want to add to this thread that the .tel loads up in about 4 secs on my nokia N96 and another 3 secs to find a contact number to ring and ring it. (No stress) BUT when I go to the .com version of the .tel company it took 40 secs to get a blank white page.

Basically I reckon .Tel is more user friendly on mobile devices than a .com is.
And .com will always be the best online (laptop/desktop etc.)

All sale price in that web, even put cent instead of dollar. The prices are still really high.

You can just give an email address if you like or a phone number... the options are limitless. it's a great idea having to put contact info in their to make it live, I mean that's the whole point of .tel.. fast contact information... why would you buy a .tel if you don't have something to put in there even while developing it?

acitvation problem

I am still getting this when trying to activate the "AJMAN" profile (Dynadot)
The profile cannot be activated, because it contains no public contact data in the domain ajman.tel

I have some public data under Accommodation - Apartments and Flats

I entered this about a week ago

How long should this take?? Any ideas??

about 2-4 hours....

log in to your .tel account

select ajman.tel

click "add" in the third selection box ( labeled "Contact Information" )

once you input cobo's home phone, or any information in that catagory,

then you can go to the top box labeled "Profiles"

Click Activate and you should get a yellow bar at the top of the screen that says activation is happy now...

if you get a red bar >>>>>>>STOP<<<<<<<<< and read the words in the red bar and respond to said words.....

good luck....

I just find out when transferring (push) .Tel to other account in same registrar, there is only one Tel hosting for all domains and all domain under it. I hope Telnic will soon short this issue and give each account separate Tel hosting panel.
Anyone with me here…

3 Letter .TEL

SVC.tel
"List Your Business. Service Your Market."

Just setup my 3 Letter domain.
(SVC) is an acronym for the popular term 'service'.

Check it out: http://www.SVC.tel

I am not a big fan of the .tel domains just because of all of the recent flops over the past years. Not sure how this one will pan out but did buy one
phone-numbers (dot) tel
seems to be ok for this extension even with the darned hyphen but picked it up as a hand reg after the sunrise.
who knows.

Thanks phase11, I didnt want to put it in, cos I plan on a directory for it. The contact info is going to be a bit further in, the top level will will be Africa/Europe/USA/Asia etc

Its not use putting in some info if its not the correct info, thanks though, I will have a look.

thanks davidwest, I will give it a go
the red bar did appear and just asked me to enter public data, which I had already done.

Appreciate the help people, thanks

I posed this very question to H. Asseily at telnic and he has assured me that when the 60 day hold is lifted that registrars will issue each domain it's own telhosting account when transferred over, so all is good. Hope this puts your mind to rest as it did mine. B-)

That worked, I added a phone number and then activated it, then went back in a deleted the number, I presume that will stay activated.

Seems silly though?

Jeez Louise,

We GET your viewpoint already--

Ad nauseam.

You (and a few others) are adding nothing new to this thread, just the same old sniping and whining.

Don't you have a .mobi or .tv thread to trash?

Besides, why do you even care? We already know that you can't build a website or add adsense on .tel.

It's one thing to ask hard questions, but quite another to be simply dismissive of others and their choices.

Here's a suggestion: don't invest in .tel if you think it's a loser TLD. I won't think less of you if you don't. In fact, I don't care.

IMO: add something constructive or move on.

Thanks for reply phase111. I think they have no idea about internal transfers before..

Something Big

Big Development.... Maybe,.....

I've just discovered something very big for achieving great search engine visibility and GEO placement for specific NAPTR records..... All in less than 48 hours!

This could be very.... very... big for monetizing .tel!!

I'll inform the crowd once I'm done tracking, testing 'click-thru-rates'.

you can put a web page in as well as phone numbers... (protect privacy if you want...) deleting it later might not work, but you can let us know....
