Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Hi.

I've bought the domain to develop not to resell but do you think it's a good one?

mortgagebroker.tel

the search volumes on google adwords show 550k searches in Feb for the words: mortgage broker

My maths make this 6.6m searches a year or 13 a minute.

I'm new to domain buying but I think this is a good one.

What do you think?

has anybody faced this problem? - after the transfer of a .tel domain from my account to another account the domain itself was transferred BUT the telhosting account was not transferred. So the new owner cannot use the telhosting control panel to edit the domain.
In Name.com I was told that "The .tel registry does not support
transfers yet".

Are you referring to the "CTH" panel? It comes with a username and password. If you register domains intending to resell them, create a new one each time you register a domain.

yes, I'm referring to the "CTH" panel.

In Name.com control panel I have one sold domain less, but in CTH panel I still control the sold one.
How can I fix this?

I'm going to remind everyone again that it's OK to disagree, but name-calling and acting childish are behaviors that not tolerated. Warnings have been issued, and posts have been deleted.

Thanks for trying that... I was just thinking of that issue earlier. I believe the new domain owner will need to hit the "setup" button and it should move it over to their login. Is that 60 day rule in effect?

when you register a domain - AT REGISTRATION TIME - choose to create a NEW CTH profile: new username/pass/new email ...

But what if you didnt use different account info? (I do like that name.com does let you choose a different account information for the CTH)

With the recent changes in banking and lending, the mortgage broker has gone almost extinct.

The demand for it will be much less today than it was previously.

cranston.tel was just indexed by google and it shows as #66 in results for 'cranston'.
curious as to how google views .tels.

It's a good name IMHO. The only negative would be the length. Yes, this commercial category is weak at the moment but it won't be for long because we will shortly be hit by massive inflation. This will mean people seek real assets again and property will be number one on their list. Buy, develop, hold is best strategy here IMO. Good luck!

Good luck relying on 1 single page / template of .tel's 255 character "keywords". It takes dozens of pages and links to gain keyword relevancy and top placement.

I justified my purchases: trademark/domain(s)/last name & a couple of "lab test rabbits" plus a gift for my CPA. Nobody says "don't buy .tel". I'm only saying, don't expect the same use and results. Some say "Tel Sucks", others will say "Tel Rules" :) Heavy investing in this particular TLD is something I would not advise. Still, I publish the LLL .tel availability list at my forum, daily, for free. See? I am not the hardass biased jerk you perceive me to be :D

Each page is not limited to 255 character "keywords".
You can add more than one paragraph containing information (including relevant keywords) as long as each paragraph only contains 255 characters. You can also add further paragraphs on sub domain pages. Hopefully this will help get the site ranked. I have just been doing it on Mayfair.Tel.

value

After having read almost this entire thread...whew!...I can't believe that not one person has stated the obvious. The fact that a domain has value in two markets. Business and personal. The personal side is based on perceived value.

For example:

I own 0000.biz. Is it valuable in a reseller market...not really. But I love it! For me it is highly brandable and looks great on a business card. Once someone sees it, they will never forget it. Therefore it is valuable to the right end user.

Then again, I own Poop.tel. Where's the value? It's easy to remember and also a great conversation piece. Therefore it is brandable and valuable.

Maybe these domains are not going to fetch 10's of thousands of dollars in the dn market but to the right buyer...priceless. Just a thought.

Happy Trails!

This thread is in grave danger of going the same way as the now all engulfing dot mobi black hole - where fervent supporters of an unproven new extension are firstly massaged and cajoled by well intentioned peers - just before all out war takes place.

As someone who couldn't give a hoot either way, let me first remind those completely convinced of .TEL's success that opinions here wont matter squat as to the long term success or failure of the extension. And to those who are convinced that saving just one life from a doomed airline is worth the trouble, do yourselves a failure and dont become embroiled in a personal slagging match where no-one wins.

If you support .TEL the congratulations, may all your investments pay off.
If you don't then there are no lives to be saved here, people have made their decision and nothing you say or do will affect that.

Unfortunately, some registrars don't allow you to change or create your own telhosting credentials (Dotster).

Henri,

I DO appreciate your allegory; it could very well find a home on my poets.net site, given its universality and broad appeal (beyond domaining).

And Telnic has done everything right in terms of setting up the .Tel infrastructure and marketing; the myspace deal is terrific!

My concern, though, deals with a serious problem that is largely out of the domainer's control: the telhosting infrastructure on the registrar end.

As you can see from this thread, even experienced domainers are encountering problems with telhosting. We're experienced at dealing with creaky and funky registrars, so we'll be okay, but what happens when the hoards descend upon domainmonster (and others) and find little or no support whatsoever?

Will newbies simply throw up their hands and give up?

This is my concern. I'm not trying to be difficult--I'm a supporter of .tel--but it does no good to ignore this potentially deal-killer issue.

I thought you guys had all gone on to discussing trading, and here you come with the most interesting question of all: What the hell is Telnic doing, not getting the registrars to fix their processes for .tel?

Let me tell you story.

A long time ago in a galaxy far away, there lived the greatest hunters to ever walk the planet Lygaphon XIV, always unerringly, day after day, returning to their wives and children with the succulent carcasses of spotted white hexapumas.

One day this weird scrawny kid came to the leader and said to him:
"hey boss, why are we wasting time running after the food? let's make it come to us and grow it"

The fearless leader took one good look at him, laughed heartily, and answered:
"oh yeah? Good luck, boy. Come back when you've got something to show me, otherwise stop dreaming"

The kid was proud, and decided he'd still go ahead, so he went to some of the strongest hunters and asked them if they could give him an hour of their time every day, since they were so good that by middle afternoon they were twiddling their thumbs and getting drunk on Long Lygaphon Iced Mint. Well the kid was persuasive, and the hunters were a nice bunch, and shrugged and said why not, a bit of work on the side can't be bad.

So for an hour a day, they plowed fields and built fences and started setting up the basic building blocks of what would later be called in their language Akhri-Kultur. And one day the seeds were put in the tilled earth, and some time later the roots were finally Released from their shells and the plants were Launched through the earth and into the bright green sky.

And the hunters raised an interested eyebrow, but the wives and children couldn't contain their excitement. And so did the old people who couldn't hunt any more.

But the next morning the hunters took their blackwood bark spears and sharpened their shellknives and set out again, with the women looking at them and scratching their heads.

That went on for a few days until one evening while at the dinner table, a woman asked her man:
"Why are you still hunting when you could be tilling the soil?"
And his response:
"But that's what I do!"

And she smiled, and thought "let's wait for the harvest."

And when harvest day came, and the hunters saw the golden mana from the soil around the village, some of them put down their spears and picked up a plow, joining the young ones who'd already been digging for months.

And the rest of the great hunters kept doing what they were great at, and the tribe flourished with meat, cereals and vegetables on the tables daily.

I agree that the number of brokers has fallen but the demand for good mortgage advice is as high as it has ever been.

Brokers are nowhere near extinct, 75% of all UK lending is still being produced by brokers.

I'm a broker myself and we are doing fine in the current market. It's not as bad as the headlines are screaming, we have just gone back to sensible
lending and that is not a bad thing.

In honor of both Jeff and Pred, I have regged the following name:
ECOSYSTEM .tel .... I just had to do it! :sold: :hi: :hehe:
And besides, with all of the "green" initiatives being talked about lately, I like it!

Can anyone comment on whether the control panel will be able to be transferred with the domain, this is a serious problem potentially as some have already listed domains for sale, can anyone confirm both domain and panel can be transferred (particularly with name.com). I used same control panel password for all domains listed with name and there must be a way to transfer 1 single domain and change the password for just one domain too. Can anyone advise? Cheers.
