Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

You've got some great first names in there (were they at GA prices?) these will be winners at some point for sure...wish I had diversified more into first and last names.

.tel sucks harder than a British-made Hoover.

Nothing sucks harder than a Dyson ;)

I tried using Moniker, Dotster and Name.com - the first one failed miserably to even query .tel availability.

So you scrambled to register 4 .tel domains, even in spite of it sucking?

Actions speak louder than words.

I always register my trademark and last name in every global TLD. What is the laughing part? That Telnic wanted $300 bucks during sunrise, thus extorting tm holders?

The best part was registering TelSucks.com

And we can use: ForLease.tel in a similar way... but for businesses.

I think you wasted a lot of money on these. You could have used the money toward one really good one on the aftermarket. NationalPark isnt too bad but plural would be a lot better. How will you make money from WebAwards.tel or Meat.tel. or Pugs.tel? Also the city of Dubai is going downhill fast. People are rushing to get out of there. I think you will end up dropping most of these next year once the hype has died down. Good luck with them though.

Thanks for your post, i personally think i didnt think they were that bad, and if they are my luck most of them will be renewed for multiple yrs not willing to just sell it within a yr

meat.tel is noting right now but when directory builds you will see it
webawards.tel was just bought due to a friend's request
pugs.tel i love pug dogs :) something are better then money and i think i have enough to keep me afloat :) thanks for your frank review though i appreciate it.

There does appear to be growing interest in this extension. I just closed a sale on 10 .TELs this morning. Considering my research time and registration fees, I made roughly $5 /hour (give or take a little). (:talk:)

I'm also feeling a bit of seller's remorse. They were solid names. :red:

What do you guys think about about a US state geo tel? Would you prefer a city .tel or a state .tel?

State is really nice to have and say Hey I own a state domain but for profits like getting listing fees, cities are better.

State will be really hard to build a yellow page because there will be to many sub directories (cities, categories,....)
Let say you've got california.tel now you have to add all cities in it, what a task!
Country is same as state, nice to have it but not for YP

h2o post and this post should be moved to .tel discussion and not showcase.

Well this was still open, so now it's not -

WestPoint.tel

Besides the obvious, there's quite a few cities in various states named it.

Type-in traffic

Hey guys,
Thought I'd chime in for the first time. I just left a response on ChefPatrick's blog and a modified version on DNW. It seems like people might want to take a crack at this:

I believe there is potential for type-in traffic to develop on premium terms (albeit not at the levels of .com), as individual users spread the word about their personal .tel domains. For instance, take JohnnySmith.tel (random example -- it might be unregistered). If Johnny Smith begins to tell his friends about his .tel, his friends (even a small portion of them) are bound to wonder what's on Cars.tel, for example, next time they're looking to buy/rent/sell a car. The same could be said for other TLDs; however, the difference is that .tel provides a really easy process by which one can input their contact info. Sure, one could buy the same term/name (JohnnySmith) in a different TLD and put up a site, but most people don't know how to do that and the "figuring-it-out" prohibits them from ever attempting. .tel gets around this by making it simple to use your "page." Because of this, of the .tel domains that are registered, I think we'll see a much larger proportion of them are actually used (contact info entered) than registered .mobi and .me domains, which require pages to be set-up. I don't think this should be overlooked. With more of them being used and marketed person-to-person (Johnny Smith's friends using JohnnySmith.tel to get in contact with him), I think we'll see some type-in traffic develop on premium terms.

I'm anxious to see the first .tel to be sold.
Somebody has tried contact end-users for selling .tel domains?

Best Regards
