Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

your thoughts on .tel as of its official launch

What are your thoughts on .tel now that it has officially launched? I think there is some potential with developments with this ext. However, I think people who bought a .tel looking for a quick flip so-to-speak have their work cut out for them.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but I imagine it will be harder to convince someone to buy a .tel since there is no real development - maybe it will make it easier, who knows?

Your thoughts...

How's everyone's registrations going? It seems like domainmonster is causing some headaches?

Maybe they will not cost real money from our Credit Cards?

I have numbers.tel
For now I have free links to phone listings in a number of countries.
Just to get it out in the ether - it obviously won't make money in this form.
No hurry. It's quite useful already. I have tested it on my own mobile internet, and it's better than paying for directory enquiries.
I am very new to this and any ideas on development would be welcome.

Does anyone know how to tell if they received a domain at Dynadot? I have one that's still processing, but in the domain registration is says

domain registration: ******.tel
duration: 1 year ($10.99)
result: Approved

Does that mean I got it, or simply that Dynadot successfully registered it (which they did according to the whois)

It just means Dynodot has registered the name I believe. I had a few that said approved but now they say not available. :|

I smell chaos! Has the whois for .tel come back online?

I picked up my last name. There were no good generics left (in my opinion) to reg for a tld with such an unknown future.

I wonder when they will get this all figured out. I'm having .eu flashbacks. :)

Well one that I was able to get and looks like it was successfully registered is ...

greek.tel

Still a few more I need to go through and check the whois.

Thats pretty good. Pre order or did you reg it today? Seems like if you wanted anything decent you had to pre order.

I notice there is a few people watching who may have an idea if the backlog is clearing yet.. Would anyone hazard a guess when this confusion will be resolved?

Thanks

All,

Just a quick note in advance of GA to highlight this to you all:

http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release?id=252455

We have signed:

iWelt - 8 million customers
BT - with over 28 million domestic phonelines in the UK and one of the largest telcos in the world
MySpace - with 130 million members

All of these will be advertising the .tel on their site and selling them (or in some cases giving or bundling) .tel domains to their customers.

I hope this starts to encourage you all of our marketing plans. And that this, as you know, is not simply just another domain.

Have a great day all, and the best of luck in your pre-bookings.

Justin Hayward
Telnic Limited
justin.tel

Thanks Justin, that's quite incredible and should certainly help get the ball rolling. I think we will start to turn some naysayers into yaysayers before too long! Thanks to all the telnic folks for listening to us telster crusaders too. :hi:
