Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Tip:

If you preordered at Domainmonster, log in to your account. You can jump onto your pre-order list (the whole list will show) to see what you are acquiring.

For successful preorders, you'll see the standard email symbol, locks, etc.

Refresh the list to see new acquisitions.

I recommend that you do go on your account to make sure your credit card is accepting your pre-orders, even if your account was pre-authorized. I had to call my cc company, and they flagged my account so that fraud (who called me this morning) doesn't go haywire.

Evidently, it's not necessarily the amount that sets off alarms, but the frequency of charges in a short period of time. And domainmonster seems to be charging domain by domain (even though some of mine were ordered in bulk).

So good luck to all!

More good news: my cc company declined my pre-order at Dynadot, so it looks like I'm off the hook.

Edit Out--maybe premature.

Hi All

Just a brief check in with you all as following the thread! Have to say
the conspiracy theories made me smile, hence I thought it was worth
getting in touch. As Justin from .tel has posted, the registry is simply
chaos, hence the results in your accounts will be a little chaos too!!

I wouldn't surmise quite yet as to your success. Simply because, for the
first 30 or so minutes the response was so slow, we got no response!
This basically means that although the submission DID GO in to the
registry, we will need to go back later when quieter (Automated) and get
the answer, rather than manually look everyone up in the whois. I
stress, submission made it to Telnic, but simply just not a timely
response. That needs to happen in the same thread and if they don't
respond as a registry normally would, we don't worry about that and
submit the next. Thats better for you guys, as although no news, we get
through them quicker.

What that translates to for Domainmonster.com customers is as follows.
If "Payment Pending", we got a response and confirmed good. If no longer
in your account, you didn't get it. If "Pending" then we didn't get a
timely response and don't know yet, but application submitted OK.

In terms of our queue order, its first come first served, no messing!
The earlier you pre-ordered, the earlier we will of submitted.

In terms of live regs vs pre-orders. No registrar in their right mind
would be letting two streams run in tandem! All will be putting live
regs to the back of the queue to follow on from pre-orders. Equally,
most will be faking the lookup based on historical data during the
opening minutes for same reasons as running two streams in tandem.
Actually quite a few don't even distinct out Landrush apps or Sunrise
that we know to be gone, so I would suggest our fake is better than
most!

They basically try and make lookup as accurate as they can for you
whilst being realistic about how mobbed the registry will be in opening
minutes, switching to live when we can see registry is responding
better. You need all comms to the registry to be handling submissions
for the serious buyers, not "browsers". WE ARE NOW USING LIVE LOOK-UPS,
so if its there, then you can have it if you're quick to check out!

Hope that all helps you guys! The phones are silent here, so if you want
to know more, then just call us, but hopefully the above helps you all!

Rgds, Mark

Well if MySpace.com doesnt blow this thing into the stratosphere, I don't know what will!

24-Mar-2009
MySpace announced as Domainmonster.com Premier Partner for tel domain
Domainmonster.com today announce they have entered into an agreement with MySpace to provide registrar services for the .tel domain name.

Joining Domainmonster.com as a Premier Partner, Domainmonster.com will retail .tel domains to MySpace customers referred from their website. The entire sales, technical and aftercare process will be provided by Domainmonster.com.

Matt Mansell, CEO, commented, "MySpace are ground breaking. They are the first social network to recognise domain names as important to their user’s identity on the web." Commenting further, Mansell said, "The .tel domain is totally unique, providing a quick, easy and search engine friendly presence on the world’s first entirely global address book. It’s a totally logical and natural fit for the social networks".

As the 2nd largest registrar worldwide for the most recent gTLD launch of .asia last year (See http://no_url_shorteners/82sepr), Domainmonster.com have participated in all recent domain name launches, where premium names are frequently sold for more than 100K US Dollars. .tel is the last launch in the currently approved ICANN gTLD’s.

i see all my 41 domain in my list on DM with the orange mark and emails and all other things but no dates ?

does this mean i got it ?

Refresh your list. When you see the email, lock, etc. symbols, with no date, it's "pending registration" (I think it means you got it, but don't quote me on that).

It could be that DM snagged the domains and has not yet sent the registration info to Tel Whois. They are kinda busy.

This is just a guess, however.

I think the registrars may be slow in sending Whois info.

Just a guess.

It's CRAZY out there, and I'm glad I pre-ordered.

*

If my card goes through okay, it looks like I'll be getting all my preorders, but I can't be 100% sure.

If I did, then I got some great keywords, which leads me to think it's not a done deal.

Edit Out--maybe premature.

Maybe we can't believe everything we see during this crazy time?

I just searched for news.tel and it showed up as available with asiaregistry.com

So much obvious that I paid $45 and registered it for 3 years, but it shows application in progress.. does this mean that they havent gone LIVE yet and if my application is not succesful I wont be refunded for this domain registration ???

And what about other registrars? If you have a .tel domain in your name.com or dynadot.com, is it sure you have it?

I got an email from dynadot saying my order has been processed and the domain is now in my account. if your order is still pending, you don't have it yet.
