For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

From SEO perspective, developed ***tel.com would gain momentum as .tel sites cannot be developed and lack of updates (also SEO techniques) will bring it down the rank as compared to developed ***tel.com.

If you are in it for a serious development of tel, I would pick up the two domains.

(Personally, I don't have any .tel or tel.com)

More so on the support side as oppsed to the alternate entry point.

Also in the domain marketplace though too so,

Will the value of dot-coms with a tel prefix or suffix start to gain momentum?

Will the success of dot-tel create new value in these dot-coms?

e.g. Would nyctel-dot-com potentially have more value now then pre-dot-tel?

Does anyone think that telsters should also consider registering the teldomain+tel.com if it's available?

Now we're really getting into the world of speculation

Additionally, what are some people's thoughts on how a dot-com could compliment a dot-tel?

Since all .tel 'webpages' will look like http://www.ben.tel/ where are you going to put the voting form ?

You'd find a link to each contestant on the AmericanIdol.tel page. When you click on "Doobie McGiggletush" it would automatically send your vote in. Easy-Peasy-Japaneasy.

5 geos name from highest potential city in the world such NYC, Tokyo or London
3 name from best products and services, end users are now finding on the internet like hotels
2 name from the short generics and brandable such hit, great or best

Sorry for the delay in responding. In terms of logos on your site, there will of course be a .tel logo on your .tel domain, but beyond that we can certainly look at providing marketing tools and logos to the community to use in fair use. I had built some widgets using Sproutbuilder but am looking at different options as they've recently changed their business model. In terms of setting up a reseller site, I would have to check into the branding possibilities for that.

We'll be popping up a community area on the website (www.telnic.org) shortly, which will have some updated FAQs, an owners guide (which will expand) and other useful information.

But as you know, info.tel (which I would really have liked to have!) is not available, it was one of the reserved names, like all names matching an already existing extension (.com, .net, .info, ccTLDs...).

Since Justin seems to be around, I raise again one question, which I feel to be an important one.

I am sure that your server will be very safe and strong, but something can always happen. In case the unthinkable happens, I would hate to lose a carefully built directory and to need to build it again.

Will there be any possibility for me to backup the content of any of my .tel names, to transfer it (FTP) and to keep a backup on my local hard disk at home or office, in order to be able to recreate the domain again in case of a problem? (I do not necessarily mean a crash of servers: it might be a problem of hacking, somebody accessing my account, or just a human mistake by user.)

This would be very useful, and would really encourage me to build something.
