Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

The first .TEL on auction at Sedo: phoneshop.tel

IMHO - it's way to early for this, but I'm looking forward to the final bid to see if it gets more that landrush pricing.

Cheers,

maybe some of you guys are right that .tel might be a fail but if its a hit then what ? do you go and look at your self in the mirror and see a sucker on your face ? if your into domaining and can buy tld like

.mobi
.tl
.vc
.fm
.bz

and all why not give a try to .tel you wont lose anything in one yr for 9 US$ if one is so scared to lose it all, be positive you wont lose. but if you lose your confidence you never were worth a .tel domain.

100,000 are registered but keep in mind if not 100,000 people who registered its roughly 1000-3000 people who registered so good luck to all of them including my self if it goes big well and good if not :) not worries you live and you learn

hey friend i am not saying it's going to fail , but i am saying keep it in context
example is if i was sitting at home watching the tv and a ad came up for .tel and i already had one ..... well i am over the moon , but until the average joe, understands it was meant for him + her ..... it is just domainers gone crazy ?

in the correct context it is unique , but accept it for what it is i feel

My two latest (and last):

PSO.tel..common abbreviation in "the biz" for phone sex operator
Operators.tel...just thought it went well with the ext.

Previously mentioned:

Brokers.tel
Exterminators.tel

Like someone else mentioned, I think geo's, personal names and services should do ok.

13flowers.tel will be bought up by one of the global flower companies who want to secure it, its memorable and the 13 telephone concept works. Whoever already has 13flowers as a phone number will want this.

Since you're into making assured predictions, I'm hoping you can tell me who will win the super bowl this coming year.

I am not interested in regging these for investment. But did reg my last name, and a few others for brand protection.

Hi guys thanks for the great forum.
I have a pertinent question for you, and probably is a dumb one. What happens if you register a trademarked .tel domain?

probably you will receive a communication to let the domain drop or give to the company itself

How long does it take from the time you reg one, until it resolves? I regged one, filled out some info and still see "pendingcreate" on the whois.

whois update will take a while I guess as the ones I registered 2-3 days ago still says pending create ; don t think is a major issue anyway...

just checked, my domains are not in pending create anymore...

ok.its a 4 letter word, but I just realised it is a trademark as well.
If they don't contact me I don't have to do nothing right?
I'm new in this world of domaining, and I don't really know how am I supposed to deal with this.

Btw, thanks for the quick answer

Type in Jamarie into google, it looks like .tel can optimise quite well when you look at how many links are associated with that name.

For SEO purpose, it's about # of backlinks (# of sites linking back to your site) and not the number of links I have on my site.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but as I recall, Google doesn't like sites full of links and not much content.

.tel could become new visit card, i am pretty sure about that.
Companies would also like to have their own .tel domain, so it will have business use too.
There is also a great opportunity to offer listing on your good .tel domain to companies, and ask them to pay you for that listing. Imagine if you list 10 companies, and every pays you just $20/month for that listing, thats easy $200/month for you just because you have good .tel domain. Even best .com domains will very rare earn $200/month on parking, without any tricks.
I think .tel is a great thing :hehe:

Interesting, but...
If companies can own their own .tel, they can just register their own .tel name (or get it back from the other owner through C&D letter and so forth) or they can simply create a contact us page.

Realistically, how is anyone going to get $20/month for the listing?
Unless the person paying for the advertisement is not knowledgeable about the internet, he'll know about the importance of traffic and so on.

He'll ask
1) How much traffic do you receive per day/week/month?
2) Why should I pay $20/month on your site? What benefit does that give me?

I understand your concerns.

But for example, if you have: fastfood(s)paris.tel (available at the moment :yell: ) and you contact fastfoods in Paris if they want to be listed at that .tel and pay you for that. Dont have to be $20, that could be $0,5/month, and could be $150/month.
Hungry adolescents and tourists could mess around in 3am, and while drinking beer at some park could take their cell phone and type fastfoodparis.tel, and find contacts of some fastfoods, and check if they are nearby and if they are opened at 3am, and if they are, they will go there to take some food.
Just some example, there is much better .tel domains.

Thats an answer to your question number 2.
And about question number 1, you can say that .tel is modern way to be informed about contact infos for everything you want and that your domain perfectly fit niche they are in, and that think about what would they type first as .tel adress if they want "fast food in Paris"
