For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Guys, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but .TEL domains cannot be developed. Dev ideas are pretty much useless with this TLD because you cannot host websites on them. Owning a .TEL is more like having a Facebook account than it is owning a regular type of domain name.

That said, I picked up rjb.tel and namepros.tel - one for my work, one for my personal, neither for resale purposes.

I disagree.. directories are a real possibility with good geos, generics and surnames.

I really wonder how google will treat this extension.
I have cranston.tel.
If it takes an act of congress to get it to rank in top 10 for "cranston", then I'll have no choice but to kick cranston.tel to the curb.
So really, does it come to how search engine friendly this extension is?
Are the search engines the only avenue for this extension or will people get to the point where they automatically type in a geodomain.tel when looking for something there?
If it's straight search engines, that would suck!

Type in Jamarie into google, it looks like .tel can optimise quite well when you look at how many links are associated with that name.

Maybe stupid question, but how can you post .tel domain to Sedo? I tried, and its red, and shows "not for sale!"
I have not changed nameservers to Sedo, is it a must if i want to list it at Sedo, and is it possible at all? Thank you

I wouldnt say that, i would say watch what you reg.
.tel is a great thing, and i belive people will have it as now they have Facebook, msn etc....
Personal names are great, but almoust all international are already taken, so i predict people will start to reg short memorable .tel domains. And there they will keep all their conctact infos.
.tel could become new visit card, i am pretty sure about that.
Companies would also like to have their own .tel domain, so it will have business use too.
There is also a great opportunity to offer listing on your good .tel domain to companies, and ask them to pay you for that listing. Imagine if you list 10 companies, and every pays you just $20/month for that listing, thats easy $200/month for you just because you have good .tel domain. Even best .com domains will very rare earn $200/month on parking, without any tricks.

Can anyone help me please.....i have most of my .tels at Dynadot....and when i click on .tel domain in my account at Dynadot, under "Telhost account" i have just opportunity to click on that link to telhost dynadot. When i click it, i put in my username and password for telhost or whatever that is. Then i just can approach to few of my domains, i can choose them from "logged into:....."
But i have there only few of my .tel to choose, and where are the others???
For each when i check whois, i see my contacts, and all are at my Dynadot account, but there at telhost dashboard or whatever, i see only few which i can choose? And there are some that i regged yesterdar night, and some regged before are not. What to do? Why is that? Anyone can tell me please?

I showed a few Thai friends the "video" and six of them have now bought .tel names that they view as the ultimate mobile business card. This was today!

I believe our Chinese friends are also looking at .tel as the latest fashion accessory. I have noticed that we can add Thai & Chinese characters so I assume most, if not all languages can be added.

So even if there is no other use I see a massive market for .tel in the Asian culture and probably elsewhere as the aforesaid "ultimate mobile business card"

That is what i am saying! New masive latest fashion accessory. People on the streets when they meet a someone they know, and havent seen him for years, in a rush, will ask: Whats your .tel?? That would be modern, fashion, and much easier than taking out mobile phone from pocket or bag, and type in some long number. If your .tel is ben.tel, then even the retardad people will remember that and later will easy find all your contact infos.

The geos and some of the product names will be great should this tld catch on.

I registered a few .tels, including my firstlastname.

Satire.tel is one. Another (which i've thrown some quick affiliate links onto) is MovieReviews.tel (wish there was a way to keep the links from looking so funky).

And secondly, 13flowers.tel will be bought up by one of the global flower companies who want to secure it, its memorable and the 13 telephone concept works. Whoever already has 13flowers as a phone number will want this.

I think you are addressing a comment to the wrong person, as I have never ever been a naysayer in my life... said that probably jhonvsmithflowers will find his .tel unvaluable as well ... but the market will assign a 0 score...
Anyway you are not funny either...

maybe some of you guys are right that .tel might be a fail but if its a hit then what ? do you go and look at your self in the mirror and see a sucker on your face ? if your into domaining and can buy tld like

and all why not give a try to .tel you wont lose anything in one yr for 9 US$ if one is so scared to lose it all, be positive you wont lose. but if you lose your confidence you never were worth a .tel domain.

100,000 are registered but keep in mind if not 100,000 people who registered its roughly 1000-3000 people who registered so good luck to all of them including my self if it goes big well and good if not not worries you live and you learn
