Mobile web surfing is barely in it's adoption-infancy.

Calling .mobi a failure before the toddler can stand... chicken little.

Calling .mobi a failure before the toddler can stand... player hater.

Mobile is limited by bandwidth, hardware and immediate corporate ROI (despite industry growth projections).

We're 4+ years from being able to even think about calling for success or failure.

maybe all of us that have internet on the phone should use "google.mobi" ...they would see the use and then maybe decide it's worth promoting...

I don't know why they wouldn't want to promote it, just on its face alone. It's very catchy and easy to remember. I wish I was a fly on the wall in Google headquarters, because the decision has probably already been made.

Truth is, any 1 of these 5 domains could make this extension a household name:

1. Google.mobi
2. Yahoo.mobi
3. MSN.mobi
4. AmericanIdol.mobi
5. YouTube.mobi

But, I dont see MSN promoting it at all. The only people who know about it are domainers.

Tonight I told and showed another 3-5 people and showed them on my gerneric phone and there own (who had interet access) Once again they were amazed at how quick the .mobis opened up.

Don't talk but use .mobi; It's a great chance for everybody.

Every company needs a mobile guide... THINK

Here come the "M Dots" ...

More REALITY ... I just received the following in my @comcast.net Inbox: :talk:
Get Email, News, and Weather on the go at m.comcast.net!

Link: http://m.comcast.net

If you put in your zip code for weather here (Option 3), it also states / promotes at the bottom ... :gl:
Data provided by The Weather Channel weather.com

I see ™ ownership of Comcast.mobi at Whois as "Comcast Cable Communications Management, LLC" ... but it does not resolve, IMHO. :guilty:
Is it resolving for you?

Jeff,

One company not using its .mobi right now doesn't kill the extension. That's the reality of a lot of co's right now. That's no surprise to anyone.

Righto, I just wanted to share the news (as LOTS of people have @comcast.net email addresses that they check frequently throughout the day (including while "on the go"), IMHO). :talk:
Keeping it real! :music:

I'm just not sure that it's "news" when a company is NOT using their .mobi. If it was, you'd be giving us news updates every second, lol.

Amtrak.mobi

Oh, you mean this: http://amtrak.mobi

Why would you post that long url for it? That's what it redirect to when you type in "amtrak.mobi". Put in "sedo.com" and see what url you end up getting.

Sometimes it seems that you really are out to discredit the extension. :(

Exactly, it's a redirect and not a stand-alone developed .MOBI ... and thus not adding to the developed .MOBI "ecosystem", IMHO. We're talking about the reality of the .MOBI / Mobile Web here, I believe ... for Sedo, in this context, it would be better to try to find out why & what & where Sedo.mobi resolves, if it resolves, as well. :guilty:
See you after the coffee run ... :talk:

JEFF,

Almost any website resolves to a different url when you type it in, even .com's. Just because amtrak.mobi resolves to "blahblahblah" doesn't mean it's not a stand alone .mobi site. That argument never made any sense to me, and still doesn't. Go to just about any popular website, and they all do the same thing.

Are you telling me that "sedo.com" isn't viable as a stand alone .com because it resolves to http://www.sedo.com/main.php3?language=us ?????????

Give me a break Jeff.

Read this about Amtrak.mobi, FROM THEIR OWN WEBSITE, and then tell me that amtrak.mobi is not a stand-alone site:

http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/Conte...ase_Page&c=am2Copy&cid=1178240116611&ssid=181

We've been over this a million times in this forum, and quite frankly I'm getting tired of this 'redirect' argument that is complete B.S.

If Amtrak.mobi resolved to "martian.littlegreenman" I wouldn't give a rat's behind because they are promoting amtrak.mobi.

Sedo just signed on as a MAG partner and Edelman public relations joined the Mobile Marketing Association which is a MAG member. I'm off to post a thread about it....

I respectfully disagree, IMHO.
