It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it.

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

from what I understand they do conduct sample tests periodically and weed out people who don't conform to them.

Some are even going to want to tell me it's because you are trying to save us from the misery of the inevitable PRO failure. See the attached PDF list of 1,300 available dictionary dotPRO domains. Some nice ones here! Btw, MicroGuy, as I see it, it's all about the marketing. If dotCO can market a ccTLD for Colombia and generate the dollars and success we've seen over the past year, with the right marketing strategy and dollars, dotPRO has the potential to do just as well.

The question is whether the registry is willing to make the necessary commitment to make it happen. All other issues aside, dotPRO, in and of itself, probably represents one of the best gTLD extensions out there. It just has no domainer support or exposure. All of this can be overcome with a well executed marketing campaign that markets directly to end users.

Google search these two phrases, together, to see my thoughts on the issue:

In all seriousness, the .PRO registry could use a couple of people like you to get things straightened out.

Unfortunately, as another astute member commented, it appears that the registry is on complete auto-pilot at this time. They probably also are struggling with (and torn between) fully opening the extension to all while maintaining the illusion of registration-wide accreditation. IMO.

Available 4 letter dotPRO dictionary domains with Google [exact] match monthly search stats.

There may be other 4 letter available dotPRO domains, but I think these cover most standard dictionary entries. Make sure you confirm stats, and do your due diligence.

WordWalker, you're a good man. Thanks for sharing the list. Couldn't get all the ones that looked good to me, but again got a few. Chop.Pro seemed catchy.

I've noticed on Encirca's dropped list that there is a concentration of .pro domains being registered right now 4 to 6 letters long. Makes sense that people are going after the short phrases.

Guess it makes sense that .pro registrations are picking up with the lowered registry fees.

If you have Pros at EnCirca you might want to check your Admin contact. After GoDaddy repeatedly rejected my auctions I found that EnCirca had my contact email set to one of their old Privacy addresses. It was a random looking 30 - 35 character string. Now I wonder if any customers have tried to contact me through Whois only to find all of my Pros privately listed.

I'm very unhappy with one of my favorite registrars.

Encirca was THE registrar for .pro, but they are not innovating at all from some years ago.

Browsing their site is like a time travel and they don't take care of their best customers by setting different prices and support ties.

I have tried to tell that to Heather (she always replies all mails), but it seems that suggestions are not welcome there...

The good old whois command is the fastest and best. A simple bash script can help you with bulk requests.

I added the following function to my .bashrc:

wp() {
whois $1.pro
}

The I don't even have to write the .pro extension for whois requests.

Thanks Jurgen Wolf but the link I used led me to a bulk Registration Search page instead of a bulk Whois Search page. Don't sweat it. And thanks for the effort.
