It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I just saw that as well, maybe getting rid of those restrictions is what godaddy was waiting for. I think once go daddy makes .pro available there will be a huge rush in .pro and more and higher priced end user sales.

Anyone ever try emailing Bob Parsons to ask why they don't have .pro yet? I think I'll go do that now.

I've been trying in the past to take advantage of hostways lower cost transfers. However, I've been told that the registration requirements was a barrier for the transfer of domains. I'm pretty sure that is what this may be all about.

It is quite possible that we will see more aggressive price competition and expansion in the registries that carry these domains. I've got an account with godaddy and have told them countless times that they could increase their business if they allowed .pro domains.

Anything is possible at this point. This is awesome news for .pro!!!

I don't think that the restrictions would be the only reason. Godaddy already carry a few extensions like .fr .ca .it that have restrictions.

Becoming a registrar for an extension costs money. Maybe Godaddy do not believe there is enough demand to make it worthwhile or even recoup the costs.

Here is the email link I received
I guess we'll find out more after November 17'th to see how much of the registration requirements will be reduced and/or removed. I think they are making it easier for people to purchase .pros without any delay in registration...that is what is sounds like to me.

So, Encirca is going to implement changes from the Registry or is this something they are doing?

Why would you include news about .PRO within .XXX newsletter?

Where is that coming from? ...edit -->Nevermind, I see it.

Personally I like .us but I'm not kidding myself about its value as an investment.
Being pro-.pro is okay but that shouldn't be at the expense of rational thinking.
I too like .US very much. However, when the .US is near overinflated .com pricing for my clients then I will find another solution for them. Isn't the argument about development? Isn't everything about SEO? Isn't everything damn near a bunch of BS when it comes to extension value. Remember last year, the year before...CCTLDS, etc. etc.

I think this is something bigger than what Encirca is doing. From what i hear, the registry is somehow simplifying the registry process of .pros. I guess at this point, we just have to wait and see what happens after Nov. 17'th and also any announcements from the registry. I'm super curious to learn more as well.

I sent an email to [email protected] I have no idea if he gets that or if anyone will ever see it, but I tried.

How about everyone who has domains at godaddy submits a support ticket asking when .pro will be available. They can't ignore us and the ext forever, they have ".net.bz" for crissakes.

Please post the response here.

Together perhaps we can make a difference.

We are the 1% of domainers that like .pro!!!!

It's an EnCirca newsletter, not specifically .PRO or .XXX.

Looks like supplying professional registration is unchanged. Appears this is more about making the signup process more quick and instant activation on new accounts. Also allowing allowing transfer of .pro domains.

Here is what they said...

Dear Benjamin,

Thank you for contacting Online Support. Go Daddy does not support .pro domain names. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please note that you can still host the domain name with us. You would only need to point your nameservers to the hosting nameservers.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Sincerely,
Rose K.

Hello, would you tell me when .pro will be available for registration? You guys have just about every ext available, but not .pro. Do you know why?

It would be nice to have the product available...I would have a bunch. Where's .pro?

Thanks,

Ben

Here is what they said...

That's the canned response they send when they see anything PRO related that they can't answer. But now you have a direct line back to Support. You can reply to that email and keep pressing them and eventually they should put you through to the real support guys ... or at least someone who knows something about it. But these front line people just aren't allowed to say anything.

right now I use enom and encirca for .pro's.

I just put up a .pro offers thread to go along with my .pro for-sale thread.

I really like EnCirca and try to stick with them. I do have a few at enom. One thing about EnCirca that drives me nuts is that they have no way to download a list of your domains, exp dates, etc. When I ask them they say they are working on it !!! wtf ???
