It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Anyway I've reg a New Zealand GEO city (auckland) just because all TLD's where taken and have lot of potentials, also I'm a GEO domainer.

I got an offer for LINKS dot pro by the buyer of link dot pro
He is offering half the amount.
At this point, I dont see myself as selling it.
Link (singular) gets much more google results because of the way HTML and other languages use it, but is it ever really a link? People are looking for links.
Anyhow, I am open to all .pro fans opinions out there.
It makes (to me) a whole more sense to talk about links , than a link.
Not to mention I got the domain back when it was $100 a pop per year, so it is much older, and could help in SEO.
Any opinions?

Ask for $3,000, the same amount the singular went for. Point out that on Sedo domains with the keyword Links in have 27 bids versus only 9 for Link so he is getting a bargain buying the plural for the same price as the singular. My guess is the bidder has development ambitions and will pay the same for the plural as he paid for the singular if you stick to your guns.

I'd second this opinion!

Link.pro was sold for $3,040. :gl:

I would ask for the same sum for Links.pro...

I guess the extra $40 arose because the deal was done in Euros or GBP and converted to USD when reported. I wouldn't advise asking for exactly $3,040, that would make you look small minded, it would send a message that you were trying to exploit the sale of the singular rather than casually using it as a benchmark to value the plural.

If somebody quoted me $3,040 for a domain, I would think they were desperate for money and ripe for a lowball. The art of negotiation is to convince the buyer you don't need their money, if you genuinely don't need their money that's even better. You certainly don't want to give somebody the impression that an extra $40 is significant to you. If you went in higher than $3,000, you should step up to $5,000 minimum.

I agree.

Anyhow, I countered, and the gentleman seems very nice.
He said he'd think about it and maybe get back to me later.
my links dot pro domain is one that I really like, and I am not hard pressed for cash, so I wont be selling it for anything less than $3000, and if the economy improves (which it seems to be), I'll only go higher.
Thanks to all those that replied, I appreciate your help!

Ok so according to encirca: Big drop of dot pro domain names following the one year anniversary of the .pro re-launch so some .pro are great to grab like the ones I post previously, I've got mine (auckland) and already had 1 offer but for a low price so will wait and see.

Seeker, as for "i'll get back to you on this" is an excuse for ppl when they never really want to get back lol but hopefully you will get better offers.

Good luck!

Granted, I can be a cheap sell at times, but I have a different view on this negotiation. First, let me say that you are right on the money in your assessment of your buyer. The gentlemen, and I don't use that term loosely, was my recent buyer of antique.pro and antiques.pro. Extremely nice fellow. Further, I believe him to be an end user for your domains, as his interests seem to run to SEO. I often favor end users for the good of the extension, and I take comfort in knowing the buyer is not merely seeking to broker the domain. Finally, if I recall correctly, link.pro was a drop some few years ago. A $3000 sale for link.pro is not chump change. I would give him a break on links.pro. I think he's earned some consideration. He may well reward you with other offers in the future. He did just that with me. Happy selling....

Have Been Out of Touch

Hello Pros. I need some help with my PROs please. I haven't been able to put ANY time into domaining for months because of an illness in the family. I'm really bad about rambling on so I'll cut right to the chase. I have a number of PRO domains expiring in a month. My intent has been to jump into selling to end users, but again, my time has been limited.

The decision I need to make at the moment is whether or not to spend a small pile of money and renew the domains that I own and not rush into End User sales. I have really been out of touch. Are PROs selling?

If you have time, would you please look over the list below and give me your opinion of the domains. Any thoughts at all that you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much,
Charles

Thanks Terol and MicroGuy. Good to see you again. Family is better. I take care of my mother who has cancer and I can't remember the last time I did anything concerning domains.

Funny, I had completely forgotten about Cats.pro. I made it a minisite and it has been sitting unattended for awhile now. But I'll sell it if the money is good. My first thought was to Google "Cats" and notify as many end users as possible that it was up for auction on Sedo. Can you give me any ideas about it's value and a good marketing method? BTW, Estibot gives it a value of $15,000 but I take that with a big grain of salt.

Again, good to see you guys.

I'm going to have to agree with Greg on the keep/drop lists.

I'd probably also keep golfvacation.pro - we've recently entered this market and the sales commissions if you do manage to sell some packages is substantial.

I see some great names available at the time of this posting, though I am in two minds about getting them, since my current .pro portfolio is not self sustaining.

I think the next best domain after Cats.pro is Essays.pro, Essays.com.au sold for $1,600. There is a big market online in essaying writing skills and services, you get a lot of sponsored links for Essays in Google.

IMHO Cats.pro could get medium XXXX bucks now and medium XXXXX if you wait for 2-3 years.

Best offers use to come directly from final users (somebody at CatToys.com, for example) and it's always better if they contact you instead you contact them.

So you should make visible your domain to these finals users... I could suggest Adwords or SEDO.

Good luck anyway! %%-

I wouldn't neccessarily keep all of them, but the .pro with "golf" in it is actually a pretty good idea, since most golf courses have a resident "golf pro."

The great majority of professional golfers (at least 95%) make their living from teaching the game, running golf clubs and courses, and dealing in golf equipment. In American English the term golf pro refers to individuals involved in the service of other golfers.
