It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

I am kicking myself for letting go of Bass.pro and Scuba.pro for so cheap. Thats what happens when your poor! I still have Condos.pro, Geeks.pro and Foreclosed.pro but they are just not the same!

Did anyone notice that registry.pro is a bronze sponsor of the current ICANN meeting?

Ben, If you are to kick yourself, then I would have to take a hammer to my head. I actually dropped Bass.pro, and others like Chef.pro. We all make mistakes. Give yourself a break. Remember, but for the markets being imperfect, there would be no markets in the first place.

I noticed this recently as well. I think it's a good move to get ICANN folks thinking about .pro. I know there is a proposal pending to lower the amount paid by Registrypro for the .pro contract that includes an incentive to get registrations above 50,000. The next move should be to ditch the restrictions that keep many potential .pro end users away.

Did anyone notice that registry.pro is a bronze sponsor of the current ICANN meeting?

Yeah, they need to completely get rid of those restrictions. That's the No.1 issue holding .pro back.

Thinking of putting Cats.pro on Sedo. Would appreciate any suggestions on pricing, strategy (?), anything at all. Minisite has been up for awhile now. Last time I looked it was taking just under 1000 visitors per month. I'd have to verify that though.

Any and all ideas would be appreciated.

thanks
Charles

And many thanks to akcampbell, AndyR, fm1234, izo-pod, MicroGuy, Samit, siga, steveteva and terol for your ideas on my last post. Reps points coming asap. Hope I didn't miss anybody !!

In the UK we have an organisation called the CATS PROtection league. they are a charity, but they do an awful lot of coffee mornings and are quite large. may be worth a pitch?

Wish you well with your sale, don't be too precipitate.

what are the chances ICANN approves this though? what would make .pro different from .biz?

What do you guys think about Tractor.pro?

Had some offers, etc. so just trying to see best counter offer that the other person would actually accept! I see some tractor*.com sales on namebio and dnsaleprice, not sure how they compare!

Would you drop or renew onlineservice.pro?

I'd renew service.pro but definitely drop onlineservice.pro.

DNJournal is reporting ebooks.pro sold for $4500. I finally completed the transfer of ebook.pro and I noticed that it is the same buyer as ebooks. Congrats to whoever negotiated the ebooks sale, very well done.

Does anyone has a link for the .pro valuation tool/site? I can't remember the URL.

Don't feel bad. I let Weather.pro, Wireless.pro, Moving.pro and Wedding.pro go for "dirt, dirt, dirt" cheap. (That's super cheap).

Still, I would have had some major renewal expense (up until) they lowered the prices. Not sure that I would have had much up on them. Then getting SE ranking seemed to be problematic.

Ok, I feel better now.... :'(

Where's the best place to reg .PRO's? What do they cost?
Are there any restrictions/requirements?

To the best of my knowledge Encirca is the most highly rated PRO registrar. The reg fee is $14.95 and there are no requirements other than to check a box declaring that you self-certify yourself as qualified to own the domain.

It's valuate.com I believe.

Sorry, but that's not the one. There was a specific site created for just evaluating .pro names IIRC

BTW: Valuate.com uses Estibot's technology.
