In other words, domain names with this extension are pretty much worthless, unless your target market is the India's mobile businesses and users. I have to agree.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. I find no fault with that logic at all.
That was exactly my thoughts on this extension and part of the reason I took a chance on one name.

Doing my due diligence on this extension, I came to that exact point that you expressed above.
This extension is being marketed towards the population of India. Right now there are about 300 million +/- (roughly the population of the US) internet users in India.
The country as a whole is starting to see a surge in internet use (again mostly from the handheld deceives around 80-85%). Me personally, I see it as an slight opportunity to take a leveraged bet against the future.
Not knowing anything about India short of what I read or see in the news, I can only speculate.

But I wholeheartedly agree with your comments. I think it would be a better contender for domainers if they tried to market it world wide instead of India but at the moment, they are only pushing the domain in India.

So take it for what it is, all speculation.

This is an email that I received this morning from my registrar.

"...Thank you for your email. We've had a look into this, and while the .OOO registry has had all collision names on "serverHold" (not allowed to resolve/work) since they were registered, we've been advised they have not actually begun the official SLD-controlled interruption phase (the 90 days mandated by ICANN we originally mentioned) and will not begin this until the 2nd of April, 2015.

Unfortunately, this means computer.ooo will not begin to resolve until approximately 2015-07-02...."

So I finally got my answer to the question... it just took them about 2 weeks to dig into it.
So we are back to conflicting time reports (Feb 4 or Apr 2).

If they are trying to shake me and drop the name... I am going to hold onto it... if for no other reason then to just piss them off.

No responses from the .ooo wasters.It would appear that the .ooo people have no respect for their customers whatsoever and deserve the fate this extension is likely to get.

My personal belief, they are NOT looking towards domainers or the overall general use of their extension outside of their design for it.
They all but locked down some keywords with outrageous premium prices and they are NOT advertising this extension outside of India at all. I dont think they want to. It would seem that they are kind of pushing domainers out of the loop in this regard.

To their credit, they have a plan for the extension and it seems that they are following through on that plan.
In time, *IF* India seems the expected boom in internet use that some are predicting, there may be a real value associated with this extension.

As of right now, it is all speculation. If you were to ask my opinion on whether to speculate in this extension right now, I would say NO!. All the keywords are pretty much locked down now. If you go it at the fist day launch and picked up some great keywords or tricky phrases, I would suggest to hold onto them for the long haul to see how this one plays out. As of right now, it is kind of useless for new domainers to try to get in (unless you did their BuildABazaar and got a domain that way but who knows what kind of price tag that comes with as well).

Its all speculation and if you have some key skin in the game, stick with it but do not try to get in now.

My single letter M has just been initialized and is showing my details rather than dynadot_staff. I think they are activating the domains in the order they were first registered.

I was able to add nameservers and forwarding. Just waiting for the changes to propagate.
