It seems every good thread these days gets filled with .mobi/ .asia/ .IDN/ .TV/ .us, debates. So here's a thread we can have at it! We can also refer people here if things get heated.



I'll start with a neutral statement:

WTF is the point of .mobi?

Back to Holly's fair summation ... this seems to be the most recurring and pressing (and most reasonable, as she has stated) QUESTION at this time: :gl:
Specifically, why are so many premium "dot Mobey" names that have been "sold" at auctions (Traffic and Sedo) with contractual development requirements not fully developed at this time, and according to the mandate?

To be honest Jeff, 'we' don't know what they will or won't do. They just don't include us in their 'send it to the public' emails.


So, if we can't answer them, because we don't work for them and just don't know, (and you won't call or email them to get the answers you want), does it then mean that your insults, demands for questions from those that can't answer, and extension deriding will continue?? A simple YES or NO for all to see will suffice.

i was always wondering if it would happen like this when the next TLD came out... still being talked about, good or bad, 2 years later....

there is a fair amount of talk about .asia, but not as controversial as .mobi i dont think.... i like it.

PLEASE Jeffery tell us exactly what you want to hear. We've answered your questions to the best of our abilities. Here I'll go slow ..... WE - DON'T - WORK - FOR - MTLD! What are we supposed to say to your highness??? You know we don't have the answers you want, and you know that there's not a domainer in this forum that can answer what a registry is doing, but that is the true point isn't it??? You can always justify the antagonizing you do here because simply, no one will do anything about it and you know it.

Lots of excellent points raised here ... of particular note, the lack of enforcement of the development requirement mandates for those ".mobi" domains that were auctioned (which is a very reasonable request, as some have suggested), as well as the highly problematic - by anyone's general mathematical assessment - nature of the 1,000's upon 1,000's+/+ of domains still languishing at mTLD ownership (and their future), IMHO.

Hopefully defiitive answers are soon forthcoming on these (and other, well documented) critical issues for the extension ... and I look forward to addressing each of them on point, and discussing them further at that time! :talk:

I guess Jeff doesn't answer questions, he just demands answers to unanswerable ones. Or maybe the integrity it would take to answer others questions, like he demands, is what is truely missing here.

I'm afraid you're too balanced to attain Usual Suspect™ status Matt. At least from my understanding, a Usual Suspect™ is an Mtld kiss-$$$er who always praises and defends Mtld, constantly hypes the extension up and constantly posts "mobi news" which isn't really news at all, but tries to hype it up as justification for .mobi being the only choice for the mobile web.

There are a few such Usual Suspects™ on this and another forum.
