Hi,

I don' really think Godaddy is the most secure registrar. I've read horrible stories... I am looking for the best protection for my premium domains.

I also have an issue with a domain name.

My domain ZMBES.com is registered with godaddy.

The Who.is website shows that the domain is still registered under my name and at Godaddy. The domain is not expiring. The issue is that Who.is show that the domain is pointing to sedoparking but the godaddy database show that its pointing to their parking page. The stats on Who.is are freshly updated.

The other problem is that I get a message that says the domain name is not in godaddy whois database.

I don't know why the domain is not in my godaddy account. Why I can't find the registrant information?

Actually it seems the info at who.is not that fresh.

The info under "Raw Registrar Data" shows

If it's not in your GoDaddy Account, you most likely don't own it., unless it's an expired domain.

I'm waiting for their email. All my domains still there.
Do you think GD is the most secure registrar?

I've heard some issue with mobile registrations a while ago at TheDomais. And some domain hijacking tricks.

Looking at the whois I see the following -

Domain Name: ZMBES.COM
Registrar: GODADDY.COM, LLC
Status: clientDeleteProhibited
Status: clientRenewProhibited
Status: clientTransferProhibited
Status: clientUpdateProhibited
Updated Date: 05-apr-2014
Creation Date: 24-oct-2013
Expiration Date: 24-oct-2014

No match for "zmbes.com" in the registrar database.

1.) The domain is not expired. It expires in October of this year.
2.) The domain is still registered @ GoDaddy.
3.) The last updated date was April 5th, so something happened on that date that triggered that date to be updated.
4.) The domain is not currently populated with any whois information. This could be for any number of reasons.

GoDaddy support should be able to explain what is going on.

You just have to contact GD and inform them of this development, but most Gurus are so believed on GD and I also see them as the most secured registrer for now, but if you are not ok with them you can try monica.
Good luck.

Thanks all!
I'm waiting for their reply.

I don't see any good alternative to Goddady as well. Its the most trusted registrar, I think.

Just because it's used by millions of end-users doesn't make it the most trusted registrar. There are loads of horror stories of domains being stolen from GoDaddy Accounts. Check out NoDaddy.com, if it's still operating, or check it out over at archive.org if it's no longer operating. I don't trust them to do the right thing by us domainers, when push comes to shove.

I like 2 additional levels of security that GoDaddy provides.

1) In the USA, when I log in to my account, GoDaddy sends my cell phone a text with an authorization code to enter to complete the sign in. I have been using this for over a month and only one time was there a 3-minute delay, twice there was a 30-second delay, and ALL other times the text is usually on my phone by the time I go to pick up my cell phone. I log into my account roughly 5 times per day.

2) DTVS - Domain Transfer Verification Service. Basically, before any domain name is transferred out of my account, my account rep calls me to get a special code that I have defined for my account. Without that happening, the domain cannot leave my account.

NOTE: DTVS can slow down the process for transfers, but I like the added security level it provides...

Regards,
DN

They have been hacked at least once so I don't think they deserve the crown for "most secure registrar".

No accounts were compromised...

I wouldn't call a website defacement by a bunch of Syrians a real hack.

The hack was against Facebook, and they managed to change a temporary whois server, not the main one.

They defaced MM because they couldn't get into the account system.

So you could say Apache or NginX or Wordpress was hacked, not the MM database.

It was not Apache or NginX being hacked here, it's MM.
I think this incident was bad enough, and the whole point is that it shouldn't have happened.

Also, the true extent of the hack is not known to us, but what we know is that companies that experience hacking incidents always play them down, and will even avoid reporting anything if possible.
