The tragedy is a setback for the emerging "air taxi" industry. Lots of technology companies are working on the market of Electric Vertical Takeoff & Landing (eVToL). Surely, the market will have to consider new regulations that will affect the Los Angeles area, due to the marine layer (dense fog) being common.

Artificial Intelligence and automation will make aviation much safer. The same trend is happening with self driving cars.

Initial assessment is that Kobe's pilot flew into dense FOG with low visibility and eventually, into terrain.

Sensors and radar would have mitigated that danger and outcome.

Personal flying has a long way to go anyway, if it will ever even happen. I talk about this in the flying taxi thread...it's just really not likely to happen because it's just a big cluster fxck mess that requires so much regulation with so many issues related to safety, zoning, etc...it's just a bad keyword to invest in IMHO.
