Though I tend not to put energy into my irrational fears, sometimes it helps to air them out.

This year I developed an irrational fear of spiders. I revere spiders and I am fascinated by them, but I am completely paralyzed by my fear of them and there is absolutely no reason for it because I have handled them and been around them all my life (my father kept turantulas and taught me a lot about spiders). I have had poisonous spiders drop from the shower ceiling into my bath and I constantly find them crawling across my bed at night. I haven't intentionally killed a spider in over 10 years and would never do so out of inconvenience. I find the practice barbaric since it only takes a second to move them out of your house. So you'd think I have some good karma or something with them, but in actuality I think about them everyday. That is definitely not healthy! I can deal with mice and rats, but spiders make me squeel like a little girl!! They are all around me and I think part of it is because we don't use pesticides or anything of that nature in our house or yard, plus our yard is purposefully kept a little wild for the bees, so maybe they all gravitate here. And the thing is that I like living in places where nature takes the lead, so I really have to get over this ridiculous fear.

So what is yours?

That is a rational fear, so you have posted in the wrong thread.

Fear of height. I am very tall and when I fall I hurt myself big time.

Though I love the mountain, I do not like narrow and high places, because I fear of falling down.

I've had some issues with fear of public crowds. I'm not sure why, it's more anonymity than anything else...but I didn't like not knowing who was looking at me. I'm over that now though.

I fear bad storms, Tornadoes, Hurricanes. Mother Nature in general, scares the shit out of me.

Must be being out of control. I feel the same way sometimes, and other times I enjoy it.

Poor little spider. Gets such a bad rap when all it wants to do is eat all the
nasty little bugs that may be crawling or flying around (including mosquitoes).

Spiders I can easily live with, I rescue them from the shower or put them outside.

I won't even put them outside. Unless of course they're huge. There's bigger
prey for them out there. :p

I think this would be a case of an irrational that can quickly become a rational
fear if say a tornado was heading straight at you. D-:

My irrational fear is people trying to find out my irrational fears.

Uhh bees. About 3 weeks ago i was out riding and stopped to take a break. As i was standing there i saw a big @#$ bee flying around. I learned to not do anything about it and just leave the insect alone. This has worked in the past many many times. So it proceeds to continue to fly around me and then it lands on my pant leg. At this point im just like whatever just fly away. So about 1 min goes by and it didnt move. So i then kick my leg to make it fly away in fear... what happened next, if you saw it, would amaze you. After i kicked my leg a few times the bee didnt even flinch. After that i started to freak out because this was no ordinary wasp or bee this thing was HUGE. So i send myself in to a flurry to get the thing off of my leg, kicking and flinging around like i was going to die. After about 3 mins of this i stopped to see if the thing had gone away with out me seeing it fly away, the FREAKING THING WAS STILL THERE. At this point im freaking out and everyone is laughing. So i told my brother in-law to come over and whack it off of me. So he did and it hit the ground and was sputtering around. So he stepped on it to kill it, it didnt DIE. Then he stepped on it about 6 more times until it was dead.

That bee was not normal, it was a FREAK of NATURE!

That was some wild crazy, genetically created, evil bee. Glad you're still with us
to tell the tale Tivo.

Like you can't believe. Living in Tornado Alley sure does not help.
