Though I tend not to put energy into my irrational fears, sometimes it helps to air them out.
This year I developed an irrational fear of spiders. I revere spiders and I am fascinated by them, but I am completely paralyzed by my fear of them and there is absolutely no reason for it because I have handled them and been around them all my life (my father kept turantulas and taught me a lot about spiders). I have had poisonous spiders drop from the shower ceiling into my bath and I constantly find them crawling across my bed at night. I haven't intentionally killed a spider in over 10 years and would never do so out of inconvenience. I find the practice barbaric since it only takes a second to move them out of your house. So you'd think I have some good karma or something with them, but in actuality I think about them everyday. That is definitely not healthy! I can deal with mice and rats, but spiders make me squeel like a little girl!! They are all around me and I think part of it is because we don't use pesticides or anything of that nature in our house or yard, plus our yard is purposefully kept a little wild for the bees, so maybe they all gravitate here. And the thing is that I like living in places where nature takes the lead, so I really have to get over this ridiculous fear.
So what is yours?
