Found This In My Laundry Basket This Morning

I still had a few clean clothes in the laundry basket this morning and reached in to take them out when I heard this hit the bottom of the basket... I'm not sure if you can get the scale, but it was pretty darn big (over 2 inches or so)! I looked on the web for common Missouri spiders and couldn't find any that looked like this...

EDIT: Found it: Rabid Wolf Or Striped Wolf Spider

Yeah, wasn't fun to have it drop out of the laundry.. could have been bitten and may not have seen what kind it was.

Stepped outside two nights ago, shook out a towel just as a skunk cruised past my leg looking for a place to hide. Scared the bejeezus outta me, just seeing a vague form, then realized there was a white stripe right down the middle.

Didn't get sprayed, but I guess they got back in under my porch, we've been having a little dispute about ownership lately.

No spiders lately, though. I hate those things.

When i was young(17th century) i suffered from severe arachnophobia, so to defeat this i got my self this:

http://www.liquidcherry.com/emilia.jpg

It was an experience i cannot describe when i had her the first time in my hands and she crawled over my whole arm..it felt actually awesome....make a long story short, i ended up having her and 4 others... :)

Do you think i am a weirdo?? i hope not because what i try to say here is, if you have fear of anything...rather then beeing a wussie about it...face it and you will not only challenge your fear, you will overcome it!!

I am Liquidcherry, and i approve this motivational speech!! :)

Cheers

Yeah, it's a Rabid (or Striped) Wolf Spider.. I did let it go as I try not to kill any bugs unless I have to. I tossed it out on the patio outside and it was big enough when it hit the concrete the neighbor's tomcat took off running. ;)

Funny because I was just in Walmart yesterday looking at a kid's toy called a Backyard Safari Bug Vac, thinking I could use it to vacuum up and capture alive all the spiders, crickets, grasshoppers, and beetles I find in the apartment! I didn't get it because it was $15 but now I may go back!

:sold:
Lol, my psychology teacher had one of those bug vacs in his classroom. He'd sometimes catch bugs during class. :)

Whew that must have been one heck of a spider to leave scars unless it was from necrosis.

Listen.. leave pics of your wife outta my thread!

I'll have you know that my wife isn't an octopus although some would describe their's as more of a black widow... :hehe:

we get them bigger and often here....have a look at:

Yeah I've heard the huntsman spiders are pretty nasty when they bite, somewhat similar to our Brown Recluse.
