TV sites are seem to grow in popularity. Though accorging to analysts only time will tell if companies pony up the money to reserve their .tv domains. What is your opinion?

I believe that .TV will eventually become adopted by the masses and have huge success in spite of the best efforts of "management" to exploit the extension for short-term gains. They see it as a runaway teen good for a few years of turning tricks on the street, when it's actually a blossoming young child in need of love and direction.

My prediction, in the coming next few years we will be surfing the internet on huge hdtv tv's and .tv will be the extension of the future making .coms worthless :kickass:

.TV will be big in the future and I don't doubt that.

But .COM being worthless? Now that's not going to happen.

But it was a nice wishful thinking though.

I noticed that a lot of big football clubs are now using .tv .. Interesting.. Newcastle and Liverpool officaial FC to name a few..
Seems like .tv has big potential but I'm not so convince dat it can overcome the .com popularity..

.tv not intended to be competitive with .com, just another branch of the techno-evolutionary tree.

All the latest data is saying that .COM and .NET are out there on their own ... then .DE ... then .CO.UK ... with .CN gathering momentum .... then the also-rans.

I'd love for .TV to take off but it's too far off the ball to do anything in the next five years from a speculative point-of-view. Be prepared to hang on to your names for 20 years.

:D

"20 years"..."too far off the ball"?!?

...These are ridiculous and naive comments. The latest "data" also says .TV is the fastest growing TLD, E V E R. (Verisign). What the "data" doesn't report is the development and *interest the TLD is gaining by major BUSINESSES--WORLDWIDE. But of course, it makes sense for the NP members to be the final judge of the "success and potential", what was I thinking.

Bottom Line: We really need to see a lot more .tv's on the tv.

i do too- often see commercials using it- and i posted in another thread- disney promotes it. yes, it sure does redirect- BUT- on DISNEY channel, watched by how many???????? they are promoting Jetix.TV-
go to jetix.tv/green, go to jetix.tv/pyramid- i saw it so much i nearly had a tiny heart attack.

then hubby and i watch his fave car shows, and what do we see- go to pinks.tv, log onto fuel.tv...

do they redirect? yep. do i care? nope.

I must confess, I don't watch a whole lot of TV however, I do appreciate seeing TNT.tv regularly.

How about Lost.tv, TheOffice.tv, House.tv, Survivor.tv etc. This is what I am talking about. Primetime .tv's.

What is really needed is some tv advertising of the extention itself and how useful it would be for "Primetime" programs.

and get this sidenote- Jetix.NET is owned by disney, and is a site- and they PROMOTE the .tv on their network- not the .net- the .tv- that is a CHOICE that they made- a good one at that :)
