Newbie here, so I was wondering:

Is the double hyphen a bad thing to have? I'm just curious if people will start going after the "--" when all other .COMs are taken.

And out of curiosity...does anyone here own a name with the Double Hyphen installed?

I had A--K.com a couple months back. It had dropped. I quickly resold it to a reseller for $40. He sells them all the time for $100 i found out.

Very interesting. Thanks to both, rep added.

6 hyphens :(
Why you friend register "z--e--r--o"?

Only short letter good for register, like "m--e.com, a--a.com"

Was watching for this one to drop and I grabbed it for reg fee. G--G .com. Have no idea of value but I believe pretty rare. Anyone know of any past sales like this one or would like to guess value? Net and org are regged as well.

thanks, g-

L--L.com went for ~$200 on TDNAM last year. It looked like it had a lot of arab traffic. Maybe I should have tried harder to get it but I rarely spend more than $50 on a domain.

I consider G--G.com to be low $XXX. You would get that easily on a good day but some people will avoid this. I think that L--L.com will be all be backordered soon as I consider them to be better than poor quality LLLL.com which is going that way. As more competitors join the backordering, a more accurate way of estimating the value of these names can be gathered.

Thanks for the sales stat! Very interesting to say the least (rep added).

As a No-ob you may like to consider NN-NN.com , still a viable market, international acceptance and looks quite good. :imho:

A hyphen is just another character on the keyboard as far as typing goes, IMO. No faster or slower for me to type a hyphen. :imho:

I like the shortness and the two letter acronym quality of these names. Easy to remember and fast to type. :sold:

I own a few and am actually currently running a sales thread HERE on NP :)

These names are limited, have been sold out for a while and will only increase in value. :$: :$:

As for other DN's with double hyphens, I would suggest only considering it if the two words being sepperated are great keywords taken in all extenstion all ways.

Yeah double hyphens together look odd in between words, however i like them for N--N.com L--L.com L--N.com etc Only com.

Needless to say, they're all gone, a long time ago.

I mean, for example, M--E.com looks cool imho

Funny you metioned that :tu:
I just picked up that name M--E.com from Namejet today :D

Apparently I love double dashes! All my recent reg's start off "xn--". Every time I reg a cool domain like เฎ‡เฎฏเฏ‡เฎšเฏ.com it seems to turn into something like xn--xkc2b6ctd2a.com when I type it into firefox. Maybe it is a firefox problem... since I *know* I entered เฎ‡เฎฏเฏ‡เฎšเฏ.com when I registered it last night.

Jesus.com

With these idn's, if people type in foreign letters on their keyboard, does their keyboard alloy for english letters containing the 'c' 'o' and 'm' for .com, this I don't understand

Thanks from Josh

It was just a joke Josh... and apparently not a very good one. Kind of like my math jokes (although I keep other mathematicians and physicists rolling in the aisles... kind of a dry lot)

OTOH, to answer your question, my Arabic and Russian domains are getting both traffic and clicks. It is easy to switch between character sets. The laptop I am using now can easily toggle between Russian and ascii. Apparently the people using these languages have been dealing with this problem for many years, and somehow they manage to find my domains, even with mixed character sets. I guess I will just have to wait to see how Tamil traffic goes. The real test will be when IDN.IDN hits the street... and whether there will be aliasing (my guess: no aliasing although RD and others disagree). Just a gamble.

I have made worse decisions than เฎ‡เฎฏเฏ‡เฎšเฏ, and if nothing else, it is fun. Never underestimate the value of fun. A good break from the equations.

I picked up P--J.com, maybe a PJ out there will want it one day.

--'s aren't my first choice for collecting, but at $2 for a bought out category how can you say no

:D
