I don't like blanket rules in domaining, every name creates its own circumstance. Without knowing the name but at least knowing the keyword/extension here;
- if it makes a sensible combination, let's say either Eagle Holdings or something more attuned to the keyword like Investment Holdings, I would lean towards using the new gTLD as main and forwarding the .com to it.
- if the combination is odd, let's say a 3-worder like Kitchen Spoon Holdings or a very bad sounding plural like Vintages Holdings, ditch the new gTLD altogether and stick solely .com.
