The best manual appraisal you have already found. Namepros. Reps are reputation points which can be awarded on namepros to members who are helpful to you.

Tread with caution here ... domain name appraisal scams are - sadly - plentiful! :yell: :o
Please post more information here regarding your "potential buyer" and its circumstances for best assistance, IMHO. :gl:

Certification of Value? Its value derives with what someone will pay for it!

Just because 1 car to someone might be worth $2,000, to another person the same car is worth $10,000. Its all a matter of what the person sees in the domain.

Good luck with the sale, but be aware it's not the appraisal scam- DO NOT use any service your 'buyer' recommends. Have a look around the 'Warnings & Alerts' forum if you're unfamiliar with the 'appraisal scam'.

If you absolutely have to pay for a certificate, go with one of the cheaper big-name services, like GoDaddy. Or give me a few $$$ and I'll knock you one up in Adobe Fireworks. :)

Thank you all for the replys, he gave me this thread to some forum:http://domainblog.007sites.com/486935.htm and also he recomended http://www.DomainMart.com and www.DomainExplorer.org but they charge astronomical fees.

He said about godaddy:"I don't trust $14 services like that GoDaddy's valuation service. Nobody will do a research for $14. We need a real manual service."

what do you think?

This is the domain in question: Obols(.)com

He contacted me the day after i registered it and parked it on sedo

Thanks

Sounds EXACTLY like an appraisal scam, and of course he is suggesting the site to do the appraisal. Scam don't fall for it.

Thank you for the appraisal fraud thread. The mail i got was worded very similar as a mail in the thread. Here is the transscript i got

Hello,

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Your domain name has been found online.
We are very interested in it. Please let us know your price.
This is not our main business but we make money on buying/seling domains.
This is a profitable business.
Looking forward to do business with you.

Regards,
Michael E Myers
Vice President
OB Securities LLC

Hello Mr.Myers and merry christmas. Thank you for your inquiery about my domain name.

You can access the offer page here at www.sedo.com
Please feel free to make me an offer i cant refuse. I have set the min offer at xxxx euros.
Among other buisnesses i also make money buying/selling domains
Looking forward to your business.

Regards

Myers:
xxxx euros. Ok.
Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?
Domain without content is ok with me. Web site is not necessary.

Have you had your domain names evaluated in the past? I mean domain appraisals. Without valuation we cannot be sure in the sale price. It's very important for me in terms of reselling too. But we must engage a valuation company with REAL manual service. So I will only accept valuations from independent sources I and my partners trust.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies.

Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and buyers:
http://domainblog.007sites.com/486935.htm

If, for example, the valuation comes higher you can adjust your asking price accordingly. It will be fair. I also hope you can give me 12% - 15% discount.

After you send me the valuation via email (usually it takes 1-2 days to obtain it) we'll continue our negotiations.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

My Reply:
Hello Mr. Myers, there is no contect on the domain exept advertising from
my parking company www.sedo.com. I am currently checking out the
different appraisal services in the forums.

I will get back to you as soon as the appraisal is finished.
Regards
Myers:
Appraisal isa good idea.
We both need independent valuation first.
Sellers always provide buyers with valuations. This is a common practice.

I don't trust $14 services like that GoDaddy's valuation service. Nobody will do a research for $14. We need a real manual service.

I researched several companies and here are the results:

I wanted to engage AccurateDomains.com as appraiser but looks like this company has very bad reputation
Just read this blog
http://accuratedomains.blogspot.com/
So I'm not going to accept this fraudulent service.

I also considered www.Afternic.com, but now it's clear their service is not reliable enough.
Just read this:
http://www.igoldrush.com/links3.htm
"Capsule Review: After lots of complaints, Afternic is no longer a recommended service. We will re-review the service in the near future."

Another complaint

I was told about manual research service from http://www.DomainMart.com. It costs - $200/hour.

Many experienced sellers suggested me www.DomainExplorer.org as a trustworth manual service. They charge per name not per hour. I've read only positive comments about them.
