Hi everyone! The 3D market appears to be exploding! Record takes at the box office by movies such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland and the announcement this week of the new 3D TV which is set to hit markets shortly have helped buoy interest in 3D multimedia platforms. Even the major American television network NBC has jumped in and will be broadcasting the NCAA Final Four basketball games in 3D!

A direct beneficiary from this renewed interest and greatly improved 3D technology is the domain business. Some of you had foresight many years ago and reg'd great names early on. Others (myself included) have only become aquainted with 3D domaining more recently, but see the huge potential this market has opened up for domainers.

Let this be the place for you to show off your 3D domain names. Ask for opinions, marketing strategies or even an appraisal or guesstimation of value. Also, feel free to post any relevant news releases/articles related to the 3D industry.

I will start the thread off with a few of my own reg's..

3DHighDefinitionTV.com (also have plural)
3DHomeEntertainment.co.uk
3DHometheaters.org
3DStreamingMovie.com
3DVancouver.com
3DWhistler.com

below the search box is Advanced Options ?

and when i go there i can't see anywhere to actually 'turn it off" ?

Top right click on "previous interface". This will take you to the orignal version. Then below the box where you type your keyword, click on "filter my results"..

Errr...ref: the whole 'ubiquitous terminology becomes redundant' slant.

Why is it that even though HD has been out quite some time that the term HD is used in the advertising of new programmes e.g. Pacific HD or Pacific on Sky HD ( yep, entire channels dedicated to just HD content). I agree that EVENTUALLY the term becomes redundant after many years because then there is the assumption that the vast majority have the e.g. cellphones.

Didn't you more or less answer your own question there? HD is still specified because, although the technology has been out for some time now, it is still the minority in the market.

Now I am confused.

I think we're all agreed that 3D may take some time to be adopted across the board. Manufacturers are making the televisions, blu-ray players, mobiles etc , but there is limited content to say the least, and content production will come in increments. It won't all suddenly be BAM...loads of 3D stuff to watch.V similar to HD take-up. Soooo, the way I see it,just as with HD, the term 3D will be used to differentiate, thus reinforcing the saying of...3DThis and 3DThat etc. So, it doesn't take a great leap of the imagination to think that when someone is looking for e.g. a 3DCheerleader site :guilty:, then they go to perhaps...3DCheerleader.com as opposed to Cheerleader.com ( unless of course Cheerleader.com are offering 3D content too and then it's competition time)..but that's when content comes in.

And I will be the first 3DCheerleader anyway, once I've shaved my legs and tucked my tranclements away!

It CANNOT fail!

What was my point again?

Ah yes,

3D will be the minority in the market like HD = specified reinforcement of the 3D term to identify domain = me with pom-poms!:sold:

An interesting point, and might well prove to be true. But were there a lot of fortunes made registering HDCheerleaders.com &c.?

3D video game adoption higher than HD game adoption

3D video game adoption higher than HD game adoption | TG Daily

auto stereoscopic sounds way too long...
.. 3dAS a possibility?

how does

3DASTV ?

sound? (seriously?)

i don't particularly like the "s" in front of the 3d like that ... maybe that's my biggest problem with it... plus, i know marketing very well and i see a big struggle incorporating that later ... could be completely wrong on this one, will not pretend to have an answer ... i know s3d gets about 2,000 global a month (nothing local for may/April, however)
i'm also seeing a slight increase in the 3DAS term ... u see this happening?
again, i like this better than AS3D

.. anybody else?

OOOOOH GREAT! The visual that is now stuck in my head bares absolutely NO resemblance to your avatar.

Today's Updated To Do List:
1) Find brick wall
2) Introduce head to wall
3) Rinse & Repeat

Nope, I'll give you that.

But,

were movies, phones, pcs, new software, medical imaging etc promoted in HD?
Was the biggest selling movie of all time in HD?

To my mind, HD and 3D can only be compared so far and then 3D keeps on trucking.

HD is High Definition, great,amazing,clear,defined..very clear..etc...

3D.....another Dimension.

THE CHEERLEADER IS IN MY LAP!!! :bingo:

wait a minute....

kiwi fru..?

Much thanks for the info. No, i wasn't aware of a modelling machine. This gives me a good idea of how to go on the offer which is pretty pathetic.

Just picked up these coms on a drop.

3djeans
yes i know it should go in the crap basket because it just has a 3d stuck on front of a popular item but at $7 and valuation for {whatever its worth} of $4.2m i figured why not!! And who knows, there may be 3d pics on jeans one day. Also:-
casino3dtv
football3dtv
worldcup3dtv
poker3dtv
olympics3dtv
golf3dtv
erotic3dtv

Would have prefered them without the 3d or the tv but these may be ok.

Still a lot of 3D bashers at NamePros or have they come to their senses yet?

I just want to say that I am still so excited to be a part of this technology. What we are doing here is going to help transform entertainment around the world. 3D will be everywhere, and it all starts with a domain name (OUR DOMAIN NAMES!!!!) We are all a part of something big, and I am damn proud of it.

While you are gloating about your regfee purchases I have been making a few good sales (non 3D domains).
It's not enough to gamble on future trends and hope for the best, you also have to put some focus on domains that will make money today.
As long as you're piling up domains that nobody wants, your cash flow is negative.
BTW I hope your username is nothing more than irony.

This reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer accidentally gets swept on stage at the Tony Awards and is proud to have won.
