On a few occasions when scrolling down the page using the mouse, i accidentally clicked "like" or "dislike" because they extend all the way from the side panel with the members info, through to right beneath the post itself.

Currently it says
"Thank for this post, Like this post. Dislike this post."

I think the words in bold can be removed. It's repeating something which just extends those buttons too far into the page.

"Thank, Like, Dislike" would do the trick-we know that it is for that post.

It would also fit neatly under the side panel containing the members info. Nice and neat.

Just a suggestion.

Makes sense to me that just using single words cuts down on space and still gets the point across. I'm On my phone at the moment, but when I get back to a PC I'll take a look at the code and shorten it to single words to at least test it for a while and see how it works for everyone.

By the way, you are doing a good job with NP, Eric! :) (Yes, that's a pat on the back lol)

Update: I changed the button line to single words in the language file (E.G. Thank, Like, Dislike).. Might be a little while before the cloud servers update and show the changes.

Am I the only one who has never seen a "dislike" button? I only have the "thank" and "like" options.

you should see it now. It was evidently set so only VIP's / Supporters / Business members / & staff could see it. I see no reason why regular members shouldn't be able to see it, not sure why it was set like that prior.

It would be much more efficient if we just had a dislike button :)

I've just noticed that in certain threads in the domain discussion section, the thank/like/dislike buttons do not appear.

I noticed it when I wanted to click "Like" on someone's post that they made today, but saw no option...

Is it permanent? Or temporary?

Which thread? I'm seeing the like / thanks buttons fine so far in all the threads I've checked. Can you link me to the thread in question?

Thanks,

Some threads don't count posts either - I think it's a setting on a thread by thread basis.

Posters (just op?) can also change the setting to allow / not allow but that's a little secret :)

Is it me, or does 3D's avatar add life to the template?

Amazing what a little color can do

This is the thread... but I thought it was in the domain discussion initially?

On page 3 I do not see the option... but there were previous posts that have been liked.

It could've been the OP then?

Thank you! I noticed it too. This is actually the very avatar I used last year around this time. :D

Thought I'd dust it off and use it again. Some avatars can always stay in fashion. lol

The For Sale / Advertising forum (General advertising threads forum) has the likes / thanks option disabled for the whole forum. If you saw some thanks / likes, they more than likely happened while the thread was in the wrong forum prior to being moved to that forum. Once the thread landed in that forum it fell under the new rule settings and thanks / likes were no longer available.

Hope that helps explain it a bit.

Thanks for the explanation Eric.

I actually didn't realize that the thread was moved when I initially posted. I only realized when I posted the link. I guess it was moved today to the Advertising section.

The move does seem appropriate.

And apologies for the false alarm :D

Ok and what is the difference between Thank and Like?
You can't say "thank you" if you dislike something, so it's almost the same.
Maybe Like and Dislike would be enough?

You can thank a bad appraisal and not like it. Its more about effort.

Thanks = That was helpful, you answered my question, Thanks for supporting my previous post, (Or a preventative measure for post count inflation spammers trying to get their post count up by just posting Thanks)

Like = Wow that was funny, OMG you hit nail on the head, holy bat mobiles batman you made perfect sense just now, (Or a preventative measure for post count inflation spammers trying to get their post count up by just posting, I like you, I like that, etc.)

Dislike = Spammer, Troll, Instigator, Scammer, Illegal activity, etc.. ( x amount of dislikes from members = auto post removal)

That's basically it in a nutshell. We've found that offering thanks & like helps non-native english speakers understand that it's proper to use the buttons rather than try to inflate post count with one liners in an attempt to unlock the signature. It has actually helped decrease all the Thanks, Like, Nice post, Helpful info., etc.. short one liners by a staggering 67% or better. ;)
