As everybody here in the forum i love domains.
It doesn't matter which generic high value domain i have/will get
I always like to discover more, new names or just trends. I feel like Pacman, i like dots A LOT.

I test the water for different trends.
Sometimes i just put a finger, sometime the whole leg :)

Prefix trends (e,i), suffix trends (360.com), pattern trends (VCVCV, CVCVC...)

Lately i wanted the see how the 5L.com can go and tried today after 8 months of their registration to sell 87 of them for only $5 each
Here's the topic of the 5L list

I noticed views but no sale interest so far
The same sale offers for a set of CCC.net went MUCH better. All my CCC.net gone quickly and we're talking for NLL, NNL and other combinations, nothing so fancy.

I agree that the 5L.com are fragile and risky, many names are crap but there is some interest.
I didn't want to increase their value that's why i tried to flip with $5 that is less than reg.fee

What's your opinion about the 5L market ?

Here is what I think. Shorter is Better, even past 5L .com
Here are some random thoughts on 5L

I think that the 5Letter .com market will take a decent amount of time to properly mature (5-10yrs). A large chunk will be worthless, but the easily pronounceable / brandable ones will eventually command premiums & will at least catch up to pronounceable 4L etc IMHO.

There are a lot of nice sales going on currently that are setting a rough standard 5L. I notice a lot of people are on various trends at the moment, so it will take longer for this market to mature etc.

Different people tend to collect different style of 5L & it is hard telling where each style will settle in value. I prefer to experiment with multiple styles & plan for the long term / lotto approach as to fast flipping. But certain names it would be smarter to flip as to hang onto .

there are still decent 5L to be had in my opinion. There are people who are sitting on them & there are quite a few who do the fast flip etc. Some of the people who are flipping will have regrets years down the road if you ask me. Imagine selling a name for $50 now, to watch it go for $xxxx in 5-10yrs. This can be a double edged sword because if a person sits on low quality names they could still be just as hard to sell years down the road. That is why I would mix things up when going for the long term.

I think that the 5 letter market will allow for more room for creativity & will not be so picky when it comes to premium letters & the phone test. Granted some names are going to be easier to place with an end user than others.

I have noticed a large trend where you are seeing more and more short domain names on TV & in print, & I see the psychological aspect of it. I can respect a nice clean 5L domain name. In the end I think that this trend will force a lot of creativity when making names & some really good brandables will come from this over the years.

^just some of my random thoughts about 5L domains.

noticed some hollywood tv show had one of those jibberish 4l's, i forget which show... lol, maybe jibberish doesnt work. :)

If one is creative, 5 l's is the way to go... there are lots of good ones left... such as, within the last 3 months i bought,
izenn.com
htmln.com
urlmd.com
urimd.com
among others.

There are truly awesome domains still available for regfee. :)

I think the best 5l names are those that resemble other words. For instance trava.com sold for a decent amount in action. It reminds you of a travel name. On the other hand a name like zoboa.com, while pronounceable is not directly related to anything and is going by the way it sounds only.

A name like talki.com would make a great phone company name, a name like blogo.com will make a great blog site, but mokod.com does not directly relate to anything

-my 2 cents

I have collected about 80 very pronouceable 5L.coms in my portofolio. However, I nerver think that do they remind visitors other words or not. Your ideas is very useful for me. I will relook my collections and decide keep some and drop some. Thanks and Reps added

The interesting thing with 5L .com is that there are so many variations & so many people collecting different styles of these. It will be quite interesting to see how it all pans out.
