Again, to me, it seems like such a "natural" insofar as its branding potential! :music: :imho:
Thanks for the assist.

namewaiter said:you say you want to help protect newer domainers against the .mobi 'hype', but here you are positioning .tel as the extension of choice. .tel and .mobi are totally different in application and use, so stop spreading lies promoting .tel as a better choice than .mobi - two totally different things.
Jeff said:^ You obviously haven't read my comments here in their entirety ...
While there may be some differences in the two extensions, it is already CRYSTAL CLEAR that those who are in the "dot Mobey" hype camp see the emergence and timing of the forthcoming .TEL extension as a very serious and viable threat to their holdings, IMHO. If you think about it ... the most ardent .TEL naysayers are the loudest hypesters of the faltering "dot Mobey", and the timing here is extremely interesting (as I noted above)! :imho: :yell:
If nothing else, 2008 will be the year of the "dot Mobey vs. .TEL" discussion / debate / battle! :talk: :imho:
Watch the massive dot Mobey non-developments and DROPS, and see you back here soon.

It's ironic of course. .tel is worthlessdman_2007 said:Care to explain a bit more, on what basis you regard this yet to launch tld to be very solid investment?
http://www.domisfera.com/deep-interview-about-tel-domains-with-benjamin-blumenthal-from-telnic/ said:(3) What is the difference between .tel and the other top level domains?
With the exception of .tel, all the other TLDs point to websites.
For example: IBM.com, Telnic.org and Google.es all direct the viewer to a website with online content. The new .mobi domain also routes people to websites that are appropriately formatted for small screens.
By contrast, the .tel uses its top level domain and the DNS (Domain Name System) in an entirely new way and for an entirely new purpose. Instead of routing people to online website to view content, the .tel points directly to people and businessesโ contact information so that you can immediately initiate communication.
Unlike all the other TLDs that use the DNS to point to โmachinesโ or computers that host websites, the .tel points directly to phone numbers, VoIP IDs, email addresses and many other means of communication. This makes .tel very different from all other top level domains.

Oh? Care to share some evidence of that? I haven't even heard it mentioned by anyone I talk to, and I talk to most of the dotMobi folks...Jeff said:The "dot Mobey" folks are clearly jittery with this .TEL extension's arrival ... that's in itself is an interesting dynamic!

(What the heck is with that "dotMobey" thing anyway, Jeff? You're the only person who seems to know what that's all about. Bad speller?)

Those saying .tel will affect .mobi just don't know.Jeff said:It's not about using the term "telephone", IMHO ...
It's about ease and effectiveness of branding!
Ohhh, it matters ... things are going to get very interesting in the "dot Mobey" clique with the launch of the highly brandable .TEL, IMHO.![]()

There you go again, instigating. (W.a.L.) If you knew anything about .tel, you'd know it has a completely different intent, and no relation or cross over effect to .mobi. So your alluding that people are going to be upset or whatever, over .tel being released is, again, tired and childlike. But do keep praying that the .mobi extension will fail so you can laugh at everyone that bought a .mobi name. Including those that bought names like Quintet.mobi!! (nice domain vision there!) Never seen someone so hoping to see hundreds and thousands lose or fail in their investments.Jeff said:Ohhh, it matters ... things are going to get very interesting in the "dot Mobey" clique with the launch of the highly brandable .TEL, IMHO.

It's not just domainers using the term "mobi" Check out mobipcs.com and see what a company is doing with the term. There are many companies alike.VURG said:Who uses the term mobi? Domainers. I haven't heard anyone else use the term. The people who I have asked about comparing the two are not domainers and .tel usually comes out as sounding more relevant. However, I don't think that the two should really be compared to much as they serve different purposes.
I agree with your earlier comments that we don't really know.
I'm not sure but I get the impression that groups like dotmobi are more organised companies than telnic and that does effect my thoughts on the extension. I have yet to see the pricing structure for the extension as this greatly affects the success of the extension.
The big selling point for me for .tel is that I can see applications for using it for myself. I picture a .tel site as an alternative to a contact page but with a range of applications to make it easier for people to contact me more efficiently. A mobile site sounds like a novelty that I can't find a lot of uses for at this time. One telephone call can be worth thousands of dollars and so increasing the effectiveness of communication through a .tel site sounds useful to me.
My thoughts with .tel is to get a handful of nice names that are relevant for my business activities, not go crazy regging for flipping purposes. I think that it is a bit risky to get too excited about .tel.
