Thanks for the post DentalPro

I think that ICANN could not pick a worse time to introduce this new extention alongside .mobi. Yes there are differences between the two but even I had to re-read the info twice to understand the difference, imagine the general public trying to grasp this. "I'll just .TEL his Hertz thing on my .MOBI phone and see where they're located ??????????????????

Just my opinion here...

but IMHO the people behind dotTel seem to be very disorganized. With dotmobi, we're pretty much told about everything that happens along the way yet even finding information on dotTel through Google is a pain.

I consider myself at least an average "googler" spending a couple hours a day on it... Yet in 10 minutes on Google, I couldn't even locate key pieces of information about dotTel that I was searching for. If they can't even get their information readily available to the average user like myself... How the heck do they expect a huge adoption?

For me, personally, at first blush ... .TEL seems a more natural, memorable, adoptable extension IMHO. ".MOBI" in comparison feels made-up, forced, "gimmicky" in my view.

It'll be interesting how it all shakes out long-term, and I'll be reading further / educating myself into the .TEL and its pro's and con's (just like I continually do with the .MOBI) as time goes along. :gl:
Thanks for the link.

i think .tel seems less natural. it makes me think of an old land line phone. noone uses the word telephone anymore. .mobi makes me think of mobile or mobile phones which is much more current. I think both extensions could do well since they are very different from each other but .tel seems like it might be a little more difficult for the general public to be able to understand how to use it.

.tel is for a niche area & really can be compared to .aero etc
people got it very wrong when they said .mobi would be like this
put it this way, there wont be a .tel forum on here or dnf lol
it will get used by a small select percent of companies etc
unconnected to mobi as most know by now
cant wait til end of month for weather.mobi etc to get allocated & for a few companies to start advertising mobi
