Quick question for you TDNAM users. What does the 'Traffic' figure represent? Is it visitors per day, per month, per year?

estimated monthly
Viewing Traffic Information for Listed Domains
The Domain Name Aftermarket (TDNAM) includes traffic data for expired domans if it is available, which is indicated by a domain traffic icon. You can view the tooltip to display the estimated number of monthly visitors the domain receives. Sellers may include traffic data in the domain description.

Of course if the domain hasn't been listed for at least 1 month, it might not be all that accurate :)

what tdnam put as the estimation, will be the maximum you will get. Most of the times even in the first month you don't have half of the traffic that they stated there.

That tends to be true, but I had one domain that I purchased at tdnam whose actual traffic was much higher than the traffic estimate. It tends to be kind of a crapshoot, which is why I don't buy names solely based on the traffic estimate.

Here is what I have found out at TDNAM over the last couple of years and a couple thousand of generic domains purchased (as a rule I don't buy expired traffic domains so this is just generics) :

Higher traffic names usually have less uniques (but not 1/2) and lower traffic domains like 50 to 200 uniques is pretty accurate. However, on domains with 10 to 20 uniques quite often, maybe 35% of the time, it can be much higher traffic than they are reporting. I don't know the reasons, but this is what I have learned.

Either way....... it's starting to get to be slim pickin's on TDNAM and elsewhere. Namejet is the last good place (besides cold-calling) to look.

You would think the down economy here in the U.S. would cause more good domains to drop..... but maybe it is just not bad enough yet.
