TDNAM expired domain question - Does ex-owner still has rights to renew the domain?

I saw there are many expired domains are listed on TDNAM "going going gone!" section for $5 each plus 1 year renewal fee.

Are there any possible that once you purchased it with BIN, and the ex-owner still has rights and time to renew it and then TDNAM withdraw this domain from you?

Thx in adv

Yes.
Search the forum for other rants on this one.

"Expired" name auctions, they still have the possibility.
Names listed by the owner by choice theoretically do not.

Hi, Allan, thank you for the info

So, if in my TDNAM account there shows an exact date e.g.

Date Won: 12/11/2006 9:55:00 PM
Yours On: *12/21/2006 12:00:00 AM

*Yours On is subject to current registrants rights. what does this mean???

I wonder if this still means no guarantee that the domain will certainly be mine?

:(

There isn't a guarantee that you'll get the name, but in all likelyhood, you will.

Thank you, I hope so.

As TDNAM said "Just click Buy Now and the name is yours.", I hope it won't let me down :)

I quoted what TDNAM has explained:

TDNAM Expired Domains Firesale is a 3-day, Buy Now option for expired domain name auctions that have ended. You can find these listings under Going, Going, Gone on the left side of the page under Browse Categories, in the Hot Names section. This is a last chance to capture great expired domain names at rock bottom prices (Firesale fee + registration fee) before the expired domain name is returned to the Registry.

This option is available after the normal 14 day auction ends. So, any auction of an expired domain name that doesn't receive a winning bid will go into the Firesale period. Then, the expired domain name will be listed under Going, Going, Gone.

Buyers can go straight to the Going, Going, Gone and find the Firesale listings to snap-up expired domain registrations. No waiting to see if you have won the auction or having to pay more than you wanted to because you were outbid. Just click Buy Now and the name is yours.

although the bottom line is yes the owner can retrieve the name they would have to pay a retrieval fee which is unlikely unless the drop was an error and they want to rectify that error. the name is not yours until the name is out of the redemption period however you read the GD small print.

if it was a Buy It Now, I don't think it was an expired name auction... Maybe someone can verify this, but auctions don't usually have Buy It Nows.

Buy It Nows also doesn;t guarentee anything. Domains for sale by sellers but after purchase doesn't respond to my emails.
TDNAM sucks!

Treat everything TDNAM does with suspicion. They could overhaul their entire system by changing a few policies, but they not to do so. Never hold your breath that a domain is yours until it is actually in your account.

After a name goes through its first TDNAM auction cycle, and if it's still unsold, then it will be Buy-It-Now. For expired domains, the owner has the right to renew, but, as was stated above, must pay a renewal fee as it is usually past the allocated/standard deadline.
