.mobi Taking the bull by the Mobis...

I have started my own 1-man mobi marketing mission, which I hope to expand amongst you fellow mobi investors/developers...

What I'm doing is contacting companies/brands that I think would be good for mobi exposure, and a good fit for my own mobisites. If they don't already have a .mobi and if it's available I advise them to secure their mobi asap (with a link to Godaddy and a brief summary to promote .mobi).

And if they already have it, but are just sitting on it, then I ask them to kindly make it a viable address redirecting to their mobile content. In turn, I offer to provide links on some of my upcoming sites pointing to their mobi site.

Got some success already - I'll post more details when the time is right.

Then comes the slightly more interesting step of getting them to see the wisdom of putting their mobi to work - I'd like to gather your thoughts as to which corp .mobis should be put at the top of my hitlist. Also any tips on best approach to take would make me :D

I think the tricky part is making contact with the right person. The wording was easy - something like:

Like your site… would just like to advise you to register your mobi version asap – I don’t have any stake in Godaddy, but for $13 it could save you a lot of hassle trying to get the name from a cybersquatter later… btw, .mobi is getting popular, as you will see many large corps now branding their mobile content using a .mobi site… for example, bmw.mobi, polo.mobi, Amtrak.mobi, nba.mobi, etc.

Don’t snooze on this one – trust me. – Visit godaddy.com today.

congratulations! I see that you've secured your brand.mobi. Now in exchange for my small act of kindness in alerting you, I simply ask that you point your new .mobi at your mobile website, rather than have it sit idle. {insert comments explaining wisdom of this} and/or {offer to provide links to their mobi address on some of your upcoming/already developed .mobi sites for free for a reasonable time (whatever makes sense to your situation).
