For those of you who have never heard of Corby Yates, or haven't seen him play live in a nightclub, I can only tell you HE IS INTENSE. I will get to see him play liev again on November 30th, here in Fresno. Still think Corby is just another average guitar player, like a 1000 other? read this:

The impact of blues on rock arises from the emotionally honest, timelessly powerful, trance-inducing songs of American bluesmen like Robert Johnson, Son House, and Fred McDowell.
Listening to this haunting music has compelled artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Tony McPhee, Robin Trower, Frank Marino, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray, Johnny Winter and Jimmy Page to unleash their mind expanding guitar playing on the world.
The Corby Yates Band, a power trio, brings this heavy, guitar-driven, blues-based riffage back into the present time. Corby won the 18-and-under division in the 1998 international "Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Competition" finals in Seattle, WA. Later that evening, Al Hendrix, Jimi's father, personally gave him the coveted "Voodoo Chile" award.
C.Y.B. has played shows at many great clubs, theaters and festivals, and has performed with a variety of well-known artists and bands, such as John Lee Hooker, Robin Trower, Band of Gypsy's (Billy Cox & Buddy Miles) Johnny Winter, Magic Slim and the Teardrops, Guitar Shorty, Indigenous, Richard Johnston, Chris Cain, Robben Ford, Tinsley Ellis, Joe Louis Walker, Tommy Castro, Jimmie Vaughan, Coco Montoya, Freak Kitchen and The Mermen
Corby also does a full-evening of solo acoustic blues. It's nothing but blues - played on a National steel guitar. Both the acoustic show and the electric power trio show are available for bookings.
Other than a short-lived record deal in 2003, Corby has remained an independent artist. His releases include Fungus Blues (2006), Back from Yesterday (2003) and Corby Yates (2001). All are available at www.corbyyates.com or at www.CDBaby.com . The songs and albums are also available through most large digital download providers around the world like iTunes, MSN Music and Napster.
