Was just wondering who here uses a tablet for domain related work such as looking up drop lists?. I'm undecided on 8inch or 10 inch. I want a decent size screen but at the same time want something cofortable to use and not to heavy.

I transferred from a PC to a laptop about a year ago. Believe me you want the biggest screen you can get. The weight difference is minimal. After about a year, I transferred back to my PC. Squinting at the laptop screen just became too much. I was extremely lucky too. 1 day after the transfer back to my PC, my laptop disk died. 20 years of history would have gone down the drain.

I have a kindle.
And let me tell you, it is no fun surfing the net, going to sites, etc.
Use a tablet only if you have no other choice.
Otherwise, stick with a PC.
I am like stub.....laptops are for traveling.
But not as main computer.

Something not covered also: proprietary software.

If you are using Windows programs to comb through lists (be it custom, or Excel), they may not work on Android, Kindle or iPad (unsure of Surface) systems.

The best bet is if you are combing through lists is to use Excel or another spreadsheet program that is cross-compatible, or close enough for you to modify the functions necessary to spot the names that you need.

Each of these platforms will have a spreadsheet program that works on them, though the FX do differ (noticed this with functions for statistics).

However, with drop lists, it will come down being the first to register them after the drop. You will have to learn how to multi-task with a nice copy/paste/1-click reg.

All of it can be done for on the go, but as mentioned, a laptop or PC is the absolute best option over a tablet.

I love my laptop. Aside from the fact that it currently has no battery and I run it to death on AC. Overheats like a mofo. I'll probably never get another desktop. A better laptop for sure. Then I have an ASUS 7" tablet which I think is great for doing the simple stuff like reading emails and browsing lamestream media.

Try the 8" or 10" tablet, I'd recommend the 8" ASUS MeMO Pad, look for deals on Amazon. If you're constantly scouring massive droplists, then you might need something more serious.

But don't listen to me, listen to David.

There's really no way around it, you need either a PC or laptop if you plan to sort through lists with thousands of records. Most tablets are not easy to work with if you want to sort through and manage big data. Spreadsheet program + lots of memory + fast processor + lots of space to store your work are essential.

I find it near impossible to do anything constructive without two monitors.

Yeah, stick with a Laptop or PC for domaining :xf.smile:

By the way, if you are looking for windows tablet, I'd recommend 8" Lenovo Thinkpad 8 :xf.cool:

Using My iphone for domaining is a living nightmare. I do not recommend touch screens for domaining imo
