Hi,

At the moment I have a few domains with a few companies and I am trying to gather all my .uk domains in one place. I thought godaddy might be able to handle the transfer proccess but turns out you can not transfer .uk domains TO godaddy :( which is a shame because i am really happy with godaddy and it would have been great if i could gather all my domains on godaddy.

I am not happy with my current uk registrars (uk2, fasthosts) and I am looking for a decent company that can handle transfers from uk2 and fasthosts.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

When you say Fasthosts do you mean UK Reg? Because that was who I was going to recommend!
Apart from them, the only other .uk registrar I use is 1&1 UK- easy to transfer in but hard to transfer away, and the US arm gets a lot of bad press.

edit for spelling on recommend

The interface looks pants, I will admit, but I have found it easy to change details, nameservers, DNS, (etc) with ukreg.
As I understand it, moving to another Nominet registar involves updating the IPS tag (one click away on your domain management page), but I've never transfered a .uk from ukreg (only to them) so am not 100% sure on this-

I have had some joy with www.123-reg.co.uk

Plus, their dedicated servers are amazing value.

Check the registrars reviews for www.123-reg.co.uk on this forum.
I would not recommend them based on my own experience.

I have unfortunately still some domains with easyspace.com who easily win the award for the most incompetent, worst back up service, highest price -you name it, if it is bad they top the bunch. :td: :td:

Why do I still have some names there/ It costs 15 pounds sterling to transfer ANY name out to anywhere. :td: :$:

So I cannot tell you where to go, only where not to go. :hi:

1+1 are rubbish.
I have used freeparking and they are OK for logistics but not cheap.

I use http://www.123-reg.co.uk for my UK domains, always have. I've never had any problem with them, although I've heard a few less than pleasant stories about them from other people.

The cheapest 10 UK registrars are listed on Domparison, by the way. Not that I'm trying to shamelessly plug my own website or anything... :D

I think I will give 123Reg a try after all this positive feedback. Their dedicated server offers are quite good aswell :)

Thanks!
