Hey Guys,

This might have been discussed before, if so please give me a link.

I have to buy a couple of .uk domains. Where can I register them, the usual registrars like yahoo and godaddy doesn't have them.

Secondly is there a good resale value for them?

Thanks

I take it you mean .co.uk ? - if so - www.123-reg.co.uk sell them for £6.09 for Two years.

Hello,

I have bought many .co.uk domains. If you just need to register (and not backorder) domains, i would STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you use: LCN.com

These guys are great, their support is great, their site is clean.

Hassle Free :)

Actually, I want just a .uk domain name without the .co or .org in front of it.

I have seen a large number of registrars where I can find .co.uk or .uk.com or .org.uk

But I am looking for just .uk domain for example name.uk. Any idea where I might be able to register them?

.uk names are not for general public use Alycehart. These are reserved for Government and Top official sites like nominet etc.

One day it might change but my company is an authorised seller of .co.uk, .org.uk etc and all comunications we have with Nominet over the .uk domain tells us the same thing. These are not for the general public.

Hope that helps

I don't forsee that happening, especially with .EU.

But then again, could create some competition.

http://www.freeparking.co.uk/ is not bad.

And yes, .uk is restricted to official entities in the UK.
You can have .co.uk or org.uk.
uk.com is a private subdomain run by CentralNIC. I'm not a fan of subdomains but if you like them why not.
BTW you can register .gb.com and .uk.com @ freeparking too.

I realise the OP may be barking up the wrong tree, but I could not agree with someone who has posted earlier in this thread, Lowcostnames.co.uk are great.. Not the cheapest in the terms that 1and1 charge a groat or something but no doubt the best..

I hate it that people who dont live in the uk or dont have a business in the uk get to register .uk domains. That is annoying.

well, you got an us and a co.uk in your signature, and I bet you got bzs, es, ws, in, ....

so is not about Countries, is about domains.
