Hello,

There have been posts at NamePros which I think are of no use and we cannot even know if that's legit or not. Recently there have been a new thread - https://www.namepros.com/threads/1-domain-sold-for-1000.1051318/ where OP mentioned about buying a domain for $1 and selling it for $1,000. That's a great sale and I don't blame him of not making the sale there.

But the problem is if such attitude goes on, people will start posting fake stuff in similar way just to get popular among other members which isn't good for anyone.

I think there should be some changes in rule for posting sales where the domain must be published if someone really wants to share and help others to understand what domain sold.

Very glad you started this @AbdulBasit.com and also support this idea fully.

There IS a thread with relaxed rules for reporting sales that include only partial information:
https://www.namepros.com/threads/report-domain-name-sales-here-partial-info.998130/

In that thread, it is still encouraged to share as much useful info as possible, like with one of the two words and the industry, that sale could be shared there without revealing everything.

Yes that thread should be used more when people want to keep details private. Not that I think there is anything wrong with wanting or needing to keep info undisclosed. Anyone posting non details should be directed to that thread.

Learned long time ago about not believing in everything that I read on the net.
Of course the story going around about me being the most smartest/handsome man that ever walked the face of the earth is true..

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this.

Sometimes members are hesitant to release certain details about a sale but they still want to share what's possible with the community. Once they see the support and encouragement from the community about their sale, sometimes they'll warm up to sharing more details about the sale in a reply to their thread, especially if another member asks the right questions, "Was it a .com sale?" or "Was it one word or two or brandable?" More details end up being shared than what would have otherwise been shared and it helps everyone learn.

We haven't seen any harm from these reports. However, there probably are sales being reported that aren't completely accurate, but that could still happen if the domain was provided (And still does happen on sales history websites), so there isn't an easy solution. On NamePros, members can review a poster's history, previous posts, domains for sale, buying habits, etc. That can help provide context on whether a sale report might be legitimate.

This is a business community, and I trust that the majority of members are honest and professional in their reports. We will continue to monitor the situation.

Thanks for understanding,

Thanks for responding.
It clearly shows what most would like to see the change. But I will keep raising my voice when and where I feel is necessary.

Totally Agree, I have made a few contacts over the years to new owners of sales reported here and lets just say some of the sales reported are exaggerated but not in the business of knocking people all sales reported should at least have the name revealed.

Please keep in mind that no one is forced to participate in any thread, so if you don't like a particular thread, then it's best to ignore it. Some members enjoy those threads and the data is clear on that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and every thread is not going to be liked by every member.

This is an open community and unless something is causing harm or serious disruption, we don't need anymore rules that would distract from the vitally important rules. It would be impractical and unreasonable for us to make a rule against every piece of content that someone doesn't like. ;)

Thanks for understanding,

It can go both ways, I know
some people are hesitant because their buyers get spammed hard, and those buyers never want to do business with them again for that reason, touchy subject, it's a fine line for sure

Some people don't realize these companies are not looking for bulk portfolios, only upgrade names that only one percent of offers would be able to offer them.

We have seen similar situations in the wanted thread, at least we see it coming, but an end user who is on the job, and trying to go about their day stopping to check these garbage emails all day can really get annoying.

For all useful purpose put hyphens or spaces in if you want to cloak the name, but vagueness is just a waste.

Posting a sale "sold domain for $5k" is just fishing for likes. Let's be real.
