With all the shady offerings of New Members with no trader rating - I would like to see a rule implemented where new members must make atleast 2-3 purchases from other members with trader rank of like 5 or better before they can make any offering for sale of any item or service.

I know a member on this forum that recently got burned by a new member with no feedback or trader rank. So I think this would be a good way of knowing if someone is intending on being a real member here or just here to post some scam offering, and bounce...

who agrees???

what if the scam artist does 2-3 deals of $5-10 each with an intention to just bypass the rule?

Sounds logical.
I'm still trying to get a domain from a member who has been here afor quite a while.
He only has a trader rating of "2".
I paid him immediately, and he has come up w/one excuse or another to not transfer the domain to me.
2 months already!
Very late in getting back to emails, and pm's.
Even though I see him logged in here once in a while.
So, out of only 11 transactions I have had here,
the only one nightmare HAS come from the exact scenario,
you mention!
Now, I'm getting pissed again!
LOL
I agree!

You're right but in many cases - having to aquire that amount is enough for some people to target an easier forum with no new member restrictions.

Speaking as a new member, that would be a wack rule. How many trades did you have before you posted something for sale?

Better to publicly highlight members who don't follow through.

If you want to (almost) completely avoid risk you can always do escrow deals.

Escrow has large fees if you go through any of the pre-established businesses though...

Good point.. I've never bought anything from a sales thread here on NP, but I do have sales quite often.

Making people buy things before being able to sell is not the answer, IMO.
