.mobi Suggestion for Pinky @ MTLD

I have been thinking for a little while now about the premium domains that are basicly resolving to unavailable pages, i think since these are premium domains that will get hits constantly, shouldn't the MTLD host them and put them pointing to a personalized holding page rather than let them resolve to nothing? Surely if they did this then automatically it would make the mobile users experience more pleasurable to at least see something?

If anyone knows pinky or has any contact with him i think it would be prudent to suggest this to him, that way automatically it would set the mobile internet drive into forward gear allowing them to start a big advertising campaign without totally ruining the users first experience. Because lets face it the reserved premium names are f**king good and will be the first ones the average joe would type in!!

Sorry if this has been thought of before but i don't recall any posts reflecting this idea!

What do you think of this? Good or bad idea???

This is a great idea. They should make a parking page similer to what we have on magic.dir.mobi ( btw we have different languages too) as well. This way the user will atleast know what .mobi is and what good resources are available, is anyone is interested.

Do you think armed with my idea, i can get employed by the mtld for a nice wage packet of $100,000 per year with a company car and a mobile???? Oh and free .mobi reg's for life? LOL! I mostly come up with crap ideas, but when i have a beer or two i can get quite imaginative!!! So that will have to mean free beer too! LOL

well get the giant backers of .mobi ie google, vodafone, visa come up with a great page to be used by all until the name has sold! Even they need to get their butts into gear!

Nice one! It seems so obvious now. They must do this imo
They are wheeling out the premiums very slowly & it will hurt mobi if the holding page is blank. Also why not advertise on each page to possible suitors?
This domain will be available for sale on....
also info about .mobi etc
They can even put a link to say www.Tropical.mobi on each page :blink:

To be honest, a premium should resolve to a page which informs the visitor that the domain will be available to purchase sometime in the near future. It should also allow interested parties to register an email address and phone number for verification.

When the domain is finally ready to be auctioned, anyone who registered should be sent information and links which would allow them to participate and bid.

I'm sure it would make the whole process easier for individuals and companies, it may even generate more interest at auction for premium domains and help promote .mobi

it really really really needs to happen ... people that are just learning about .mobi will attempt to access some sites, and because they have control of 'the best' domains, these will get type ins.... if nothing resolves it would be such a terrible missed opportunity to build the brand!

Bureaucracies just can't seem to make anything happen quickly. Imagine if this was government organization, you probably wouldn't have even gotten a response.

The obvious benefits of implementation of the mtld premium name parking page suggestion makes it such a no-brainer. Hope we can impress this upon Pinky during his next visit here at NP.

Cheers acc & Jeff in the end i feel it would benefit us all if it were to happen, either that or get dishing them out sharpish and i mean very sharpish!! Or else the global advertising budget which i should expect run into millions of $'s would be almost completely wasted due to a very simple oversight with a very simple fix!!

Another idea would be to lean on the big backers to start promoting their newly found buddies at MTLD, and start using the domains that they have acquired through sponsorship deals etc!
