strategy Strategies of Fortune 500 companies?

Hi guys.

I'm sure some of you here have dealt with Fortune 500 companies before, both in terms of inquiries, negotiation as well as sales.

I'm curious how some of these companies approach potential domain / IP owners when they want to acquire a domain or some specific IP. Do they mostly use 3rd party companies like MarkMonitor, CSC etc, or have you encountered situations where they approach people/companies directly through subsidiaries or their own marketing / IP division?

I'm not only talking about domains that have a "for sale" lander, but also developed domains, inactive domains, forwarded domains etc.
