Strange CHANGE in Adsense - $100 and BAM!

Okay... THREE for THREE

The momeny my newest site cross the magin $100 barrier, I suddenly am getting mass click throughs.

On the Previous two sites (tracked by channel), SAME deal

Right up to the $100 mark, my click through rate on adsense for content was under 3%. Depending on which of the three sites, it ranged from about 1.13% to 3.32%

When the first site cross $100, which took about 3 months, I went from earning less than a buck a day to $6 on the very first day after crossing $100. And since then it's rarely been below $2 a day.

On my second site... which took nearly 6 months to cross $100. When it finally did, same deal... I went from a 1.13% CTR to a 9.93% CTR overnight.

Now, my 3rd site... just cross $100 3 days ago... I've been watching it closely... same deal, only now, I'm seeing nearly 30% CTR over the past 3 days.

WHY ALL OF THE SUDDEN? Why the proximity to $100?

The only possible explanations are...

1 - Total coincidence.
2 - Google is out to get me banned.

I've heard so many people talk about how they get banned right after they hit $100. This kind of massive increase in click through is exactly the excuse that Google gives for banning people.

I've been EXTRA careful with my Google Ads and conducting my campaign as an experiement first and a revenue stream second. The fact remain... as soon as a site generates $100, it gets clobbered with hits and high paying, high click throughs.

Are my finding singular? Has anyone else noticed this strange coincidence?

Do I feel the hangman's noose around my Adsense account's neck?

If I'm right, there is certainly something fishy going on with Adsense... perhaps a concerted effort to inflate the numbers they can report to their advertisers while simultaneously getting out of paying the websites of "the little guy" that bears the Google burden?

Any thoughts?

Well i'm nowhere nearing that type of income yet so I can't talk from personal experience...

I think it's explainable through other ways other than conspiracy...maybe your sites just become more popular. Incidently, have you tracked where your traffic is coming from? If a lot of it is Google then there are a few sneaky things happening...

It sounds to me like you might have been getting the CTR all along, but Google was holding it back...Hmm, I just hope we're both wrong.

OOooo... new angle. I never thought of that. That's scary.

So... for now... are you seeing the same kind of CTR that I was explaining before the $100 mark? around 1% - 3% CTR?

I'd like to start keeping a database as kind of a watchdog on Google's PPC antics. It might prove to be interesting.

Here's a question: For those that have been BANNED from using Adsense, do they still have access to their STATS? It would be intersting to see of they saw the same kind of phenomenon.

I've used Adsense for a long time now, I've had the same CTR from the beginning and until now. So I would just rack it up as a coincidence, Google is not doing anything on there end to try to get you banned.

But undoubtedly, they will ban you at some time.

Or at least it seems that way.

after reading your story i know you were correct on some part
few days back my cousin account was banned because of CTR rate
i dont know more about but i think CTR rate is main problem

he had joined three months back ago and made few bucks and his ctr rate is always high
and in the end he was banned
so he had asked to them why he was banned now google replied you already had an account and was banned earlier lol he never registered with them and he was new to online
and again he asked to check the adress and name but they said they had checked thoroughly and banned

now the question comes if they know he was already banned then why they accepted to him?
if you need their replies ill post it here later

If google can take advantage of the "bottom" 20% of the MILLIONS of people that are displaying their ads, that's Millions of Dollars in FREE revenues for Google. They say that a crime needs a motive... This is a pretty good motive and the beauty of it is that they are completely protected in their actions.

If it were you or me or anyone else that banned their own customers every day, we'd be out of business in a heartbeat. Yet Google seems to be getting away with it... ALOT.

This whole banning thing is rediculous though. Google has the ability of tracking each and every one of us, keeping a database of every SEARCH we have every made and profiling our usage to track us even on other people's computers and IPs. They have the most technical minds in the industry. They are the WORLD LEADER in Search Engine technology...

but nobody has figured out how to simple not allow a payment to go to a member's own IP address?

Is that not completely stupid? Simply disallow members credit for clicking their own ads! That is giving member clickthroughs to Advertsiers for FREE... that is GOOD press!

There is no down side to this and it eliminates click fraud which is the reason Google says it's banning everyone. The only down side I can see is that perhaps Google doesn't WANT to eliminate Click Fraud and likes having it as an excuse to do whatever they want for whyever they want to.

Seems so simple... yet so complicated.

I'm not saying Google is guilty... just that it looks strage. Strange that it is happening the way it is and stranger still that there is something that can be done and it's NOT being done.

Things that keep me up at night... LOL

And at .06, have you crossed $100 bucks yet?

If/When you do, keep us informed... I want to know if your CTR suddenly increases by 100s of percent.

Yes, it did. looking back at past reports, i can tell that indeed there IS a change in ctr.
At around $40, it was 0.02% and at around $80, it increased, albeit slightly, hovering at 0.4%. Now above $110, it is back to normal. :)

However, i don't think google will take note of such a small change.(my opinion, that is)
