Hi from Oz. In your learned opinions, is a good LLLL net a better investment than a mediocre LLLL com in the same price range? If there is the same net and org available and the com is gone, which would you buy, the net or org or neither?

The thread for each xtn seems to inform me why theirs is better than the others...i.e why org is better than net and why net is better than org.
Then i read that dot TV is the next big investment opportunity and good TV's will be worth zillions soon. Then i read US is powering ahead and buy those.

So, what would you buy....xbuy.org or xbuy.tv etc (currently avail)?

It seems to me that i would have to buy one domain in every xtnsion to cover all options which would prob be a waste of money.

Your input will be surely appreciated.

These things are never easy to predict, and I guess if we *knew* what the next big TLD would be, we'd all be on our way to early retirement ;)

However .com, .net and .org are seen to be the 3 best TLDs (in rank order, IMHO).

After that, your guess is as good as mine. ".us" holds appeal due to the large population of the USA, and ".tv" *could* have potentialy due to the fact that we all love TV :P However there's no easy way of telling - I personally don't think that ".tv" will succeed, although I may be wrong :)

You can't just say what's better without context. ACLU.org is a lot better than ACLU.net, Cash.net is probably better than Cash.org, and CH10.tv is probably a lot better than CH10.net or CH10.org. It depends a lot on what the specific domain is.

Everyone has their favorites and sales to back them up. I know one thing when the LLLL buyout occurs for all the major ext's there will be a nice price adjustment and many more end user sales IMO.

I would just say do your homework and buy quality over quantity. I love .com and have made my bread n butter with them but they are getting expensive for a lot of people and I believe there are other extensions that have a lot of room to grow (and to catch up %'age wise) and in turn provide nice ROI's for a minimal investment.

The .com LLLL sell out has made all premium LLLL.net's an attractive purchase as well as CVCV's.

As well finding a high OVT acronym available for .info is a good buy as you can't go wrong with a .99 purchase if it will make you a nice ROI just parking it (I am not really buying them ATM).

I really like premium LLLL.org's right now as well. There isn't much data yet on sales etc but the public accepts .orgs and I think they are very undervalued but only time will tell with these.

You can't go wrong with com/net/info/org for words but the initial cash investment might be too expensive for some.

I guess like I said above is the best thing to keep in mind, quality over quantity and do your homework. Good luck...

Thanks for all your info. Most helpful. Scratching around i notice many many nets avail. I guess that if a name is considered premium or a geo or has good traffic perhaps the xtn may become secondary in importance. Like you say, i guess quality is the operative word.

I guess with dot coms they are great for short term investment or flipping but the others may have only long term potential a few months or years down the track unless you score a bargain.
