Saw this on youtube, but don't speak Spanish, or it could be Italian... someone please give a brief english synopsis, please. Edwards makes a brief appearance - seems to suggest that mTLD is promoting actively in Europe - maybe that's their focus at the moment.

sorry if this is old news.

hi mobidick,

actually, that is in spanish, and in a brief, it shows the advantage of the use of the ext .mobi in a cell instead of using "normal" ext as .com, and others... it also tells that u can find everything u need in a cell, u dont need a desktop to use internet, and things like this...
its a good promotion for .mobi, they dont tell when it was made.

best regards,
bricio.

Thanks Bricio,

I hope to see these kind of stories on US/Canada shows in the not-too-distant future... perhaps Eu is getting the mTLD focus because they are ahead of us in terms of mobile surfing. How far ahead do you think they are ahead for things like internet access, costs, speed, and content available?

Cheers.

Definitely a good 3 years ahead of Canada. Mobile rates are super cheap in the UK.

hi again mobidick,

im not from US/Canada, actually im brazilian and if u need any help in portuguese dont hesitate in PM me.
i dont think Eu is far ahead US in terms of mobile surfing, access, costs, speed, and content available; as u told VERY, VERY, VERY WELL the point is FOCUS!!! maybe, who knows, whats going on is, in that case, .mobi in Eu is being shown to EVERYBODY while in US/Canada (i really dont know if its happening) people that knows about .mobi r those that read specific sites, related-tech newspapers and/or work w/ internet and so on... think about this: how many people u know, that dont have a related job to internet that have EVER HEARD about .mobi? so, if u have friends that r doctors, attorneys, engineers just ask them not if they use, but if they HEARD about .mobi, and if they say yes then u ask if they use. i also think that
as ive read, i do beleive in .mobi totally... to prove it, ill tell u this: ive got about 70 domains (JUST 2 R NOT .MOBI!!!). for me .mobi will be the best ext and neither .com will be better!!! its just time... well have to be patient!!! thats another important point, if u r not a reseller, of course... Reece told that they r 3 years ahead Canada, and i think that they r at least 5 years ahead Brazil and Portugal (portuguese is their mother language), but Brazil is better for 1 reason, just one. we r 160 million people w/ 100 million cells, but the bad news is that 80-90% r pre-paid cells, but the good ones: 10% r 10 million that has a good quality of life and use cells to surf! i told u that to show the same point w/ another point of view: WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT(to sell and to earn a great amount of money)!!! but TO DEVELOP im sure that it MUST BE DONE NOW!!!
Best regards,
Bricio

Hey good to hear your point of view Bricio... one thing I like about .mobi and this forum in particular is the cosmopolitan crowd that comes with it... speaking english of course :) You're english is very good btw Bricio. Obrigado - is all I know.

I read from Nombre recently that in BC, Canada you can't even get access to .mobi except through Blackberry, smart phones, and the like... ie. you can't surf (except for walled garden offerings) .mobis on a regular phone - can anyone confirm this, and what about Alberta? Reece, is that the case in Manitoba too?

And how about the U.S.of A. - I can't believe that Vancouver, BC - domainer capital of the world (homes at one time to Frank, Yun, and now Kevin) would be so far behind other metropolitan areas in terms of mobile surfing!

Yep Canada has a history filled with excellent domainers :) As far as I know, no cell phones that aren't smartphones have mobile connectivity, and a good 90%+ of smartphones here are Treo/Blackberry devices, which limits the teen-young adult crowd due to the obvious expense of these devices.
