Spamming guestbooks for no apparent reason?

A lot of my guestbooks have been spamed by some morons from Russia, but for no apparent reason.

Basically it goes like this:

Nice site! Color scheme no bad... Add spam protect and be happy ! Random code =454

At least 16,600 pages have been spammed like this:
http://www.google.com/search?q="add+spam+protect+and+be+happy"

It's not link spam because they don't have any link...

Any idea why they're doing that?

for the same reason that they become professional crackers or phishers, because there are no "real" jobs for them in their country.

This may be true, but the world is a big place, and the internet makes where you live obsolete...

True for many people. But the internet is providing more and more opportunities for real jobs. For instance, they can work on www.ScriptLance.com and www.elance.com

when someone clicked your website, is there anyway you would know whether it is done by a human pressed the mouse button or it is done by a bot?

people that spam my guestbook often leave links... so I guess that's just for improved pagerank and stuff.
